But hey, you once saw him half a decade ago for England against Ecuador and he was fucking ace. Must be top signing.
Vieira was at his peak 4/5 years before we signed him but he still did a good job. I don't see why Owen can't do a solid 20-30 mins at the end of a few games to calm things down, just like Vieira did. Plus, its more experience in the dressing room. Can't hurt since it cost us nothing and if he isn't good enough he just won't play. Don't understand all the negativity from you.
In past five years Heargreaves has played in five games. That's FIVE games. Three seasons prior to joining us Patrick Vieira had played 63 games. But other one was "old, slow and past it" because he never played for rags. Heargreaves is "great player who has been unlucky with injuries" because he was with rags. Half of these people claiming how great he is have barely seen him play.
Also, he will take a spot in 25 man squad. I don't want to see negative and crocked player like Heargreaves playing for us. We already have enough defensive midfielders.
On top of that he is a rag reject.
You don't think there's enough reasons?

Never underestimate a person with a chip on their shoulder/something to prove. I'm pulling for him to be a late sub in a game at the swamp and score the winning goal this year

Id bring him on to take a penalty for us no matter what minute of the game it is.
But thats just me.

I'm hoping we don't throw in defensive midfielder if we are drawing with rags.

You'd say the same about any current or ex Bayern player. Lahm, Heargreaves, Santa Cruz.
Heargreaves was average player for very good Bayern side. Better than Santa Cruz who was shit player for that same side.
Also, Heargreaves started three games in 2006 World Cup.

smart move.
I'm not too fussed about this signing. Used to be a full international, free signing and it's only a one year deal.
I don't like to sign former rags but this signing has seriously pissed off a rag mate of mine and that only makes this signing decent.
According to wiki he played 27 games over 4 seasons which equals to less than 7 games each season. That's pretty much what I'm expecting from him this season as well. Including all reserve and substitute appearances
Wooders wrote:I don't understand the signing - Mancini said about Bellamy that he doesn't want players in his team who can only play once a fortnight. Now we have Hargreaves ???

yeah the "story" was in the Mail first and then the others picked it up
I can't see any truth in it if I'm honest.....as has been covered elsewhere on here, we have enough room in the squad list I'm pretty sure so why would we leave him out. Even if he's not available for the first couple of games it makes no sense to not have him potentially available (til you can re-jig in January)
