I am going to keep an open mind and see what happens if and when he plays for us - that's the only thing I really give a shit about.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.

Vieira was at his peak 4/5 years before we signed him but he still did a good job. I don't see why Owen can't do a solid 20-30 mins at the end of a few games to calm things down, just like Vieira did. Plus, its more experience in the dressing room. Can't hurt since it cost us nothing and if he isn't good enough he just won't play. Don't understand all the negativity from you.

In past five years Heargreaves has played in five games. That's FIVE games. Three seasons prior to joining us Patrick Vieira had played 63 games. But other one was "old, slow and past it" because he never played for rags. Heargreaves is "great player who has been unlucky with injuries" because he was with rags. Half of these people claiming how great he is have barely seen him play.

Also, he will take a spot in 25 man squad. I don't want to see negative and crocked player like Heargreaves playing for us. We already have enough defensive midfielders.

On top of that he is a rag reject.

You don't think there's enough reasons?

Id bring him on to take a penalty for us no matter what minute of the game it is.

I'm hoping we don't throw in defensive midfielder if we are drawing with rags.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I saw him play a fair few games for Bayern.

You'd say the same about any current or ex Bayern player. Lahm, Heargreaves, Santa Cruz.

Heargreaves was average player for very good Bayern side. Better than Santa Cruz who was shit player for that same side.

Also, Heargreaves started three games in 2006 World Cup.

I never rated Santa Cruz but I did rate Hargreaves. He might have only started 3 (out of 5) games but he was still their best player.
The fact that you have to bring up the Lahm discussion again just shows how much of a child you are.

His fitness record over the last few years is about as bad as you could imagine. Makes Michael Johnson look good. If he every gets back to fitness, will he ever have the pace again. There are massive reservations to signing him, especially when we have so many bad memories of players with long standing injuries and we have expensive players who might be missing out to give this guy a chance. As a free agent he could have trained with us and we could have signed him out of window at anytime.

He's a solid technical player who's always had a good understanding of the game, is versatile and has lots of experience of winning in Europe. i.e. he's exactly the sort of player who Mancini tends to like. When the rags bought him there were real question marks over whether they were getting good value for money, and that was before he ever got injured.

He's with us now, I wish him well, but I'm trying to avoid having any high expectations because I'd probably just be disappointed.

smart move.

I'm not too fussed about this signing. Used to be a full international, free signing and it's only a one year deal.
I don't like to sign former rags but this signing has seriously pissed off a rag mate of mine and that only makes this signing decent.

According to wiki he played 27 games over 4 seasons which equals to less than 7 games each season. That's pretty much what I'm expecting from him this season as well. Including all reserve and substitute appearances

I don't understand the signing - Mancini said about Bellamy that he doesn't want players in his team who can only play once a fortnight. Now we have Hargreaves ???

Don't see what there is to not like about this.
Nothing to lose, everything to gain if he returns to fitness.... and the added bonus of great comedy potential at our wanky rag neighbours expense.

yeah the "story" was in the Mail first and then the others picked it up

I can't see any truth in it if I'm honest.....as has been covered elsewhere on here, we have enough room in the squad list I'm pretty sure so why would we leave him out. Even if he's not available for the first couple of games it makes no sense to not have him potentially available (til you can re-jig in January)

FFS they don't even quote the actual squad list, they just say he's not in it. Shitty journalism
