Love it or hate it, this rule is set to all clubs and fans have to abide by it. It's like the law, people don't like the 70mph speed limit but there isn't much we can do about it unless people go down the correct and proper channels to have the law changed.

Put it this way, if nobody was standing, then surely there would be no trouble over it?

Be as it may, there's no way someone can sit and enjoy the game if everyone else is standing. If they REALLY want to end it, and frankly I don't understand why since no one nowhere else seems to care about it to the extent they do in Etihad (See what I called the ground!), they'd try to target one of the "big boys" in the stand, not some 100 year old grandpa.

If they want to sort it they should film it, note the seat numbers and then rescind their seasoncards. Don't try and sort it during the game and don't use over zealous dickheads to do it. Like Olly said though, why can't they just sit the fuck down.
On a side note, I watched this whole thing from across the ground (which was a pisser cos it distracted from the game). I'm pretty sure I could see one of our number taking an interest at close quarters. Was that you Beeks?

As someone who was not there and only able to watch what happened on that video that is on the site and MEN I hope somebody has some better footage that they can submit as evidence because that doesn't seem to show the full event of what happened.
I could see Showsec getting away with it if there is only those vids.
I would imagine both sides can come up with witnessess.

I'm in 121 and could mainly see everything happen from where i was stood and it looked disgraceful, soon people over 109,110,111 are just going to start fighting with stewards and rightly so because these stewards are fuckwits. But the club continues tsay it's dangerous to stand? what do they think is going to happen tomorrow night now they've made a 'singing section' the whole end will be standing? They SUPPORT the poznan?! I think it's a bit more dangerous to do that than stand still and sing proudly for the club you support.

As someone mentioned above they stopped harrassing us in the South Stand after 2-3 years because they couldn't throw us all out. They suffered big time when they tried because everyone would suddenly turn on the stewards, not violently, but just stop them from getting at the usually weak vulnerable person they were after. I find it interesting they never go after the six foot meatheads!

People who want to sit you know where you can go and enjoy the game so don't start telling me how to enjoy my day out!

It's just the same as it was at Maine Road near the end when the North Stand would stand up and a section of the Kippax near the away supporters.

Stewards need to realise if they don't cause trouble then like most games at CoMs the game will pass without incident. They should concentrate on the aisles either side of the away fans, that is where all the trouble usually starts inside the ground.

IMO the Police are pretty decent when it comes to handling games at City (regulations probably help alot regarding their behaviour). At least they don't lay into everyone with clubs like in Italy every time it's a bit tense.

I don't know if anyone else has had trouble in the South Stand recently but down aisle 117 during the entire game there are now stewards present. Not only do you have to jostle with them to keep your space (that you paid for) but they block the friggin aisle, something they constantly tell us not to do! I can't figure out what they're there for becuase they have their backs to the away fans and face the South-West corner of the ground never looking at the pitch or concourse? Does anyone know what this is all about? If I have to fight them again for my seat I'm going through my branch to complain, I've been told Danny Wilson is the man to contact regarding stewards.

It might be worth getting the Football Supporter's Federation involved with this incident, they might carry more weight with the media (and provide legal advice/support).

Here's the link to their 'Fan in trouble?' page: http://www.fsf.org.uk/fan-in-trouble.php

From Showsec:

Date: 17th October 2011

Official Showsec statement

RE: Ejection at Manchester City FC on Saturday 15th October 2011

Showsec’s operational role at Manchester City Football Club falls within the club’s match day
operation. In this instance we were directed by the club to eject a supporter for persistent
standing, which contravenes the ground regulations and followed repeated complaints from
other supporters in the area.
The ejection was carried out in line with the club’s policy and upon the gentleman’s refusal to
leave the ground we requested the support of Greater Manchester Police in order complete
the process.
The company will continue to support the policies of the club and any eschewing
investigations.

The whole thing still angers me! The fact that the evidence is there for everyone to see and city and the wankers from showsec have just been allowed to blame the supporter is sickening!

I just hope there is a strong reaction on tuesday night

There was fighting in the isle after this whole thing. I'm not an expert but im pretty fucking sure that if a steward hits someone (closed fist) it's the same rules as a bouncer and he is FUCKED. Arrested for assault and unemployed/criminal record never to work in the security sector again and a question mark next to the firm's name ie who they are hiring and what training is being given. Yet no one is mentioning the skinny little prick throwing punches at a fan in the isle.

It was just before the police in the blue jump suits came rushing down and everyone suddenly started watching the game again.

Considering all the cameras in football grounds these days I woudl be surprised if the club do not have this event on film with a much better overview. Cameras are everywhere to provide evidence against hooliganism.
Light travels faster than sound.
Thats why some people appear bright until they open their mouth.

Just to keep you informed. I have not had a reply from Vicky Kloss or John MacBeath for my email I sent 24 hrs ago. They must be too busy to address a loyal supporters problem. Editing some film from a camera inside the ground or something.

It`s poor to not acknowledge it at least. Especially as one of them is in charge of communication!! Do you think Cookie would`ve responded?

I'll probably have my season ticket cancelled when i go on next week for my pro-standing views.

That "Showsec" statement is such a crook of shit.

Repeated complaints from surrounding supporters = bollox
Persistent standing from an elderly gentleman with a heart condition whilst everyone else sat down = bollox
The company will continue to support the policies of the club and not its rag supporting employees = bollox

Guess what I think of that statement ....

Nice that the "Be The 12th Man" headline on the OS is accompanied by a picture of the (i think) East Stand.

Everyone stood up. With a big flag being stretched over everyones head just for good measure.
