Gary Speed RIP [merged]

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I admire anyone who can play a full Premier League season at the age of 36 and not look off the pace. That's how I'll remember him.

Shocking news - once again tragedy puts everything into perspective. Selfish? Well none of us have any idea what he was going through. Losing today wouldn´t feel so bad . Life goes on for most of us. Respect to Bellers whatever his decision to play or not

Will be one of the more poignant minute silences before the match today.

Please don't say that. Not being flippant here but I'd hate for Dalglish to be revving the boys up in the dressing room saying 'Do it for Craig, do it for Gary'. It's sounds so wrong on many counts.

I'm sure a minutes silence will be held perfectly.

I didn't know Gary Speed any better than I guess the average person on MCF does, but I certainly wouldn't feel like playing football today. In fact, his death has been the low point of my weekend and I'm feeling sad now. Definitely not in the mood for football. Posting in the match thread seems pointless.

rip gary it will be hard for his family but for me someone that i didn't know or even meet it's not something that will put me off our match or any other match i'm or will be watching today ,sad as the news is 3 points from scouse 1is all that matters this afternoon .

Awful news, my thoughts go out to his family. Seeing Shay in tears before the start of the game really brought home the emotion of it all.

RIP Gary

many on here have commented on depression in general and their situations with it in specific...depression is a real illness and this news yesterday was really heartbreaking to hear about. Sometimes you just never know in life what people harbor and how they manage it, or fail to.

RIP Gary Speed....from the outpouring of emotion i've seen and read in the last 24 hours you will be missed.

Has anyone confirmed that he was depressed or are we all assuming he was? Before the smartarses reply there are other reasons one would be found hanged.

I was going to ask this. Everyone seems to have jumped to conclusions that he was depressed.

Hundreds of people die every year of due to erotic asphyxiophilia. It make a lot more sense than suicide.

Please note, I'm not meaning to speak ill of the dead, but another plausible explanation is that he's done some Giggs-like stupidity and was confronted by the hack. And instead of facing whatever shameful thing his done, he chose another way out ...

It might not be depression. Sometimes in life things can actually happen so quick they turn your whole world upside down, rip it apart and change everything in a quickest of instances. I know this from experience and when it happened to me, yes I thought of a way out, thankfully I surrounded myself with love and didn't do anything stupid.
I haven't a fecking clue what I'm doing! Gillie come back man I want my sig back. As the Photobucket thingy gone?
