We have been watching Martinez for a while but he has also been linked with everyone else. It depends on how keen we have been to set it up, as we would have to get the player really into our project if we are to ward off Barca & Co.

Only serious problem appears to be that rumors about a Barca interest on the big lad are becoming persistent.
As lernt this summer with the Sanchez c**t , they are indisputably the only club which still has more appeal to top player than us, particularly towards Spaniards or Spanish-speaking in general. and frankly I cant see that appeal being affected by the League title.
shall see, hopefully with a more dynamic approach to the target the usual...

I would have thought Barcelona would have to sell to spend £34m under FFP as they are in deeper shit than the rags debt wise......wonder if there will be any decent scraps off the table if they did move for Matinez

Right, but what about the purchase of Fabregas @ less than half his market value or even the Sanchez's, widely less than City's offer?
Unfortunately the current (since Bosman) is the big players' market, not the Club's.

If we are going to get him, we will have to really steam in there & get it done I think. We managed that with Silva according to stuff I've read. We had him signed well before the actual official signing date.

If we are getting a new Spanish CEO & he's bringing Tricky Burgerstain with him, they could be influential here.

Spot on as usual, Sir.
Dave's purchase was what actually sprung to my mind there. I too am croosing fingers to finalize the Soriano deal: he might be the ultimate ring, definitely.

Don't dare to write young Dedrick lad off me, pls.
I'd been having a huge confidence on him since the CC derby.
He shall keep improving from season to season, imho.

If he's to do so, I think he has to find a team to take him on loan again & imo, most Prem teams will have been scared off by his performances this season.

Sadly true, based on his performances for Notlob he's another Championship player at best - id put him behind Savic at the moment

The crux of the question is whether it's mainly down to nerves or if it's because he's not as good as we hoped.

Tricky Burgerstain....hahahah....class

In terms of Boyata, he hasn't looked great. Odd isn't it that a player can look so good with quality around him and then look all at sea when put in amongst less able teammates. No chance of him coming back and forcing his way in on current evidence. Really needs another loan and needs to do well there.

Just as important for me is the work we do with our contracted players. Particularly Silva who should be offered a new four year deal on Yaya/Tevez type money.

Really don't want us to get in to a situation where he has only 12/18 months left.

I think we will go after Cavani and maybe Lavezzi. Uruguay is playing a game tonight in Bucharest and i saw an interview today with him and he was asked if he will stay at Napoli and he was not that convinced. Of course he used that formal phrase "I am happy here, but who knows, yada yada yada".

Lavezzi would be 27 by the time he kicked a ball for us. So I don't think we will go for him.

I agree. I think we may go for a player of that type (with pace who can play wide if required) but I don't think it will be Lavezzi.

I think Cavani is the most likely Napoli target, if Guidetti is judged to be not up to it, or if Bob decides to cash in on Dzeko.

I think Bob wants a Tevez/Kun type of player, of course if Herman will finally go. I wasen't a fan on the argentinian, but i took an interest in him after all the rumors and i can really say he is a Tevez, without any mental and Kia crap. He is devoted, very intelligent and a really good person (Like Zab). I would like if we will go after him, but of course Cavani looks like the real deal, but if we will consider buying him, well that means Dzeko will be sold. I really don't think we will have Cavani, Dzeko and Balo on the same position in the system we play.

Possibly, but I think we were a bit different on Saturday in the fact that Aguero played quite a bit on the left (as he did sometimes for Atletico) so I don't thnk Bob has finished experimenting on formations yet. It's not impossible we could see 3 up front in the future in some games imo; Aguero Dzeko Balotelli, with Aguero & Mario dropping deeper at times. Not this season but maybe next.

That would make room for a 4th striker to rotate.

The argument of some shit performance within a shit defending line is weak, imo. just to say how different may result a performance if you play alongside a Vincent Kompany or when you are within a shit panicking line like we saw by the Canaries on sunday (f.i.) perhaps not even protected by a gung-oh set of midfield.
I still have faith in him... also given the fact that there is not such an offer of fine CBs worldwide, as understood by seeing the most regarded "talents" (Luiz, Coates, Savic) into the EPL.

EDIT: Not to forget that, I my dream purchase (J. Martinez) will come true, we still have the additional option to line Yaya at CB if needed.

as per striking department I wouldnt be so anxious to get another superstar alongside Aguero; Balotelli & Dzeko.
Given the system we mainly play (4-2-3-1) and that City physio dept. has been filled with a pair of top pros, I will be very fine with the addition of Guidetti even for a very demanding next season. This might also has the additional benefit to prevent too much malcontent toward rotation. Just a thought.

I thought Boyata looked like a fine prospect, for the reasons you mention, but after a promising start, I thought he cost us dearly on some occasions when he played in our 1st team last season & he seems to have continued like that in his games for Bolton. I've seen young players start off looking like world beaters & then drop to being mediocre before so it's hard to always guess correctly.

I'll just trust whatever decision our coaches make.

Excellent shout; he's the one player we need over all others, in my opinion.

Moreover, just been reading the Daily Mirror this morning at my Mum's (she buys it, I just read it when I go there) and there's an article claiming that Liverpuddle are going to be spending big this summer (supposedly quoting John Henry) to take them back to their 'rightful' position at the top of the Prem.

Players such as Hazard, Martinez, Keita etc etc were all mentioned, although why such players would go to Scouse1 when it's unlikely they'll be in the Champions League next season, baffles me. However, it would seem that they certainly will be spending some appreciable amounts but not a single comment was made about FFP implications.

I don't know what the state of Liverpuddle's finances is, bt if they've got CL aspirations they, like Chelsea who are in the same boat, are going to have to watch how they go. On the other hand, any and every future City purchase will have the media trumpeting about FFP, irrespective of how and why these may be financed.
