It's not only our omitted players that make the mind boggle. How can a guy who's managed for the last 3 1/2 seasons in the Premier League think that Defoe is a better bet than Sturridge and that Henderson (on the reserve list) is a better player than Carrick? Aaron Lennon as well as AJ can threaten on either flank, so it's not like Downing was a shoo-in. Jagielka should be in there as well.

Looking at the alternatives, I can't see that anyone stands out that should to be included (Apols Michah, AJ).
Can't say I'm optimistic of our prospects next month.

I don't see what he has to do to get in the squad, my personal opionion is that he is the best right back we have got by a mile, he can defend and can play as a winger at the same time, complete player for this position and every England manager turns a blind eye, ah well our benefit he will be rested for next season, suppose nothing is better than playing for city though.
