They've both made too many mistakes this season. Nastasic isn't going to play on Tuesday barring an injury but he will do soon unless our centre backs get their fucking act together.

Lescott's poor quality on the ball does matter I'm afraid. If I was an opposing manager I would be getting my players to pressure him in possession. He'd give the ball away every time. Presumably Nastasic has been bought to replace him at some point. He may not have long to wait at this rate.

This is probably one of the main reasons that I dislike Lescotts place in the team , time and time again he gives the ball away to ANY player no matter even if it puts them in trouble , just so long as he gets rid of it. Lescott doesnt have a great football brain imo , hes a good header of the ball and has one or 2 other qualities but thats it, and fuck me Ted , you rate him as one of the best defenders in the world ????? are you fucking insane ????

Doug ,
Lescott was at fault and thats a fact , how much percentage of fault you want to give him is up for debate.

Lescott had no chance to do fucking anything other than kick Crouch in the bollocks & Garcia cleared the fucking ball but it hit Crouch on the hand, again a handball that refs ALWAYS give against attackers, ALWAYS.

And this:

This is NOT TRUE.

Lescott does come under pressure ALL THE TIME when on the ball. He did v Stoke because (unlike vinny) when his team mates were stuck, with nobody to pass to, he always came & made an angle for them to give him the ball. When they did give it him he either cleared it or passed it, depending on the situation. He got off 63 completed passes compared to Vinny's 51, Maicon's 38 & Clichy's 38.

The difference in pass completion between Vinny & JL over a season is next to nothing. Lescott is almost identical on the ball to VK.

That is a fact. I don't give a fuck whether people THINK he looks dodgy or not. There is barely a cigarette paper between them in possession of a football. That is the truth of the matter.

Lescott comes under pressure all the time because opposing players knows hes shite on the ball and will look to get rid of it anywhere.

Re Vinny , yep I agree , hes also been ubber shite but I know which one of the 2 will soon get back to form.

Lescott & Vinny both come under pressure because teams know City will try to play it out from the back. Both deal with it better than just about any other cbs in the country.

There is no rational reason to assume Vinny will hit form but Lescott won't. Imo, if Vinny was in form now, Lescott would be a lot better automatically. He wouldn't have been dealing with Crouch for a start because an in form Vinny wouldn't have made a fucking mess of challenging him.

By the way, this getting rid of it anywhere tag is nonsense. His pass completion rate is something like 80 odd percent .

He gives it back to Hart or puts the wingers under pressure by giving it to them , his stat ratio going pass someone and then making a pass must be the worse in world football.

When defenders start going past people as last man, you are asking for fucking trouble, whoever they are. Lescott is almost always last man.

Vinny is very similar on the ball to Lescott, in every way & he is one of the main reasons Lescott gets on the ball; because VK keeps giving it to him. People just trust VK more, even though he plays more dangerous passes & loses possession in bad areas much more than Lescott. Neither of them are great footballers & should not be allowed to spend as much time on the ball. The midfield should take it off them.

Interestingly enough, JL is also amongst the better players for pass completion in the England team & gets slaughtered there too.

No he doesn't & neither does Vinny or John Terry or any of the other cbs. He does occasionally make an angle & thread one through to Tevez or Balotelli etc but most of the time, he keeps it simple & passes to the better players around him.

Just because he doesn't stick his arse out & flounce about when he does it, people assume that he's doing something less than the more posey cbs, but if you watch them, they mostly acheive fuck all in spite of all the posturing & for every chance they create for their own side, they give a chance away by losing the ball & being stranded in the opponent's half. Vinny creates about two openings per season, Lescott probably one.

Lescott tried it once at Stoke, went past the oppo player, over the half way line, played a ball in to our striker, a defender stuck his foot out & lumped it back past Lescott which meant Garcia taking a yellow card to save the situation or Stoke were away. It was probably the only actual, genuine mistake Lescott made in 90 mins. It's not what I want from our defenders.

I think that switching formations and roles is very difficult, even at the very highest level. I am a cook and switching to a different station in the kitchen is very difficult, especially if you are thrown in on a busy night. Then going back to your regular station is another adjustment. I think the defenders are struggling with that slightly, plus it is difficult to start the season on fire after winning the league last year. Hopefully things settle in quickly now that all the new signings are in and the team should start to settle.

In Madrid I hope they go through the back four of Zabba, Kompany, Lescott, and Clichy (though I expect Kolorov to start this one)
Put a midfield three in front of them with Barry, Garcia just behind Yaya and go with a front three of Silva, Nasri and Tevez. It will be very conservative but I don't think that Aguero is fit enough to start and I think that two d-mids will protect the back four and free up Toure to help retain possession and offer a threat on the counter.

I think that the back 4 just needs 2 or 3 clean sheets in a row to gain confidence and then we will be back to our confident best.

THIS, i hope. with Aguero coming on in the 2nd half for Nasri since, more than likely, Nasri won't be impressive.

Spot fucking on! This is what i see game in and game out, pass completion my ass.
The only point passing him the ball is to drag out the time.
