Bit of an anomaly for me. We looked rock solid, but fulham attempted nothing in attack.

Eh? They put in a number of crosses if I remember right, they just had no one in the box to get on the end of them. Most of their attacks came down our left because the right hand side was a closed shop and anything they attempted through the middle was snuffed out because of Barry and yes you guessed it Garcia blocking the way.

His passing was a bit erratic but so was the team's in general.

I think crosses are overrated. No not all crosses, that other team scores a lot of goals by doing the right types of crosses. But most of the crosses Fulham put in our box look more dangerous than they really are. I'm not really disagreeing with you, just wanted to jump into this conversation basically. What do you think?

I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

They weren't all that dangerous because they didn't have sufficient number of bodies in the box ( something we suffer from all too often ). Berbatoss and Ruiz played very deep, leaving no target once it went wide. Barry and Garcia actually did very well when you think about it with these two playing deep and Sidwell and Karagounis to deal with too, they let nothing come through the middle.

I saw Berba lose his rag a few times at the lack of service.

If you were tell me a team had come to the etihad with no intention to score this season, they'd be my 1st guess.

I have seen him have the odd decent game, but always away from home, which is strange. All Managers make mistakes in the transfer market and Garcia, for me, is a mistake. Glacial speed and he looks terrified half the time. Poor player. He is getting away with it in what is obviously a very good team, but his glaring weaknesses would be exposed elsewhere.

I know you are all convinced that it's right, certainly dazby seems to be, but I watch the games. I seem to remember two defenders getting beaten in the air by Steve FUCKING Sidwell and Joe flapping madly as he fell into his own net. Luckily...LUCKILY the header went wide.

It was Zabaleta. Joe basically had a hand against the post so there was no way the ball was going in. It all got a bit untidy because Zabaleta and Sidwell fell into the net under Joe's feet

I assume at some point during his process he will start to learn the spaces to fill, but at the moment he is very much the headless chicken chasing the ball around without direction. However, he is brilliant in the air on set pieces. I like a DM who can contribute in this fashion.

Not NDJ? He isn't even the tea lady. It was the point at which he was beaten for pace by Berbaflop that worries me.

Slim,
I think in any season we'll always get the odd incidence of poor defending due to the odd fuck up mate. That is only to be expected but generally, I think our defence is pretty solid and I would consider us to be defensively frail.
