International games

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Did anyone notice when Wilshire came on, in one instance Rooney got the ball, set off on a run towards their box & Wilshire didn't get within 20 yards of supporting him ? Just left him v about 6 defenders ? Rooney actually overtook Wishire.

I mean ok, Hodgson wouldn't want half the England side teararsing up the pitch with a few mins to go, but he clearly hadn't given instructions for nobody to attack, as Gerrard/Milner showed.

Wilshire is not right at all imo.

There is another 2 week international break in 4 weeks time to play the playoffs FFS, glad we dont have many involved in the playoffs but the other players will be hauled to far flung places for meaningless friendlies?

From the top of my head, Nasri is the only one of our players who will have a qualification game.

Rooney has the same problem.

Looks like all those injuries are catching up with Wilshire. Ramsey has left him for dead for the Arse this year. Wilshire looks likes he's scared of busting a gut for fear of injury & once a player has that st the back of his mind its a downward slope thats damn hard to get off

What does Frank Lampard actually do in an England shirt apart from waltz around like a big girl ? He is fucking shite for England but very effective for Chelski year after year ...... real strange one for me !

Disagree with you there. There have been some brilliant matches and great stories to follow this international break. I enjoyed this break quite a bit.

Herein lies Englands biggest problem over last 30 or more years. Succesive managers have tended to pick players from so called big4 irrespective of form or more importantly whether they will fit into the system. Lampard & gerrard is perfect example. Both are excellent for their club sides yet no matter how they play together it doesnt gel. Both like to get forward but you cant have both men forward so one has to be compromised which is to the detriment of the other.

We are seeing this with YaYa & Fernandinho as both get forward then leave holes at the back. The side needs balance (which GazBaz gave us by the way).

Too many England bosses have picked the 11 best players based on top4 clubs & not the 11 best players to play a system. Look at the Dutch. Kuyt got in ahead of Kluivert & van Nistelrooy yet didnt score half their goals for their clubs. He was however a more versatile player who played well in the role asked of him.

Hodgsons insistence Rooney will always play is so obviously flawed its untrue. Whats plan b? Welbeck? Defoe? Walcott? None of these players are any good as a lone striker. If Shrek is injured or is off form so have England been over last 7/8 years

Well considering qualifying places were being decided it had to be somewhat more exciting than usual, still pretty rubbish though in my opinion.I'm happy it's out of the way but can't believe we have another break again in 4 weeks time.

For me best international brake ever Bosnia is in Brasil with elite. Now just City to win 3 title this year and year will be perfect!!!
You can't be a real country unless you have a beer and an airline. It helps if you have some kind of a football team, or some nuclear weapons, but at the very least you need a beer.

Interesting to see how the play-offs have panned out: possibly the worst potential outcome for UEFA.

Portugal v Sweden
Ukraine v France
Greece v Romania
Iceland v Croatia

I live in pretty central Sarajevo, but went about 6km out of the town, just 'cos it would be so much chaos. The game coincided with Kurban Eid and the end of the first census in the country since 1991, meaning the place was choc-full of Nationalist diaspora, and not so fun as after normal games for me personally. I went to my friend's for a drink for Eid, then stayed there to watch the game, which was kind of fortunate, as the water mains burst under the bar I was planning on watching it in about 20 mins after kickoff, and the place had to be evacuated!

They'll figure out a way to get France and Portugal in at the very least, even if they have to cheat to do it. I am sure they are ringing Henry for ideas as we speak.
