Messi to City now 'thinkable'

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

The media don't change do they. Yaya gets asked a loaded question that anybody in the world would have to answer positively - 'Would you like Messi to play with you at City' - which Yaya gives a decent reply and it's reported that 'Yaya Pleads Messi To Join'.

It's not unthinkable but I'd suggest Barca would get rid of the board before they of rid of Messi, especially with the rumours of Iniesta's unrest.

Still, at least they aren't reporting Yaya/Sergio/Silva to Barca. How things change, eh?

I rather suspect our Chairman has informed the players of the long termness of the program. These guys, long into their retirement will be held as ambassadors for the cause. As today we revere Bell, Book, Booth etc. Our youngsters will do the same. Our owner is so busy in so many industries these players will get ample opportunity to make money long after retiring. Come on Lionel join the club.

El Confidential is supposed to be one of the less sensational papers, if a little pro-Real:

http://www.elconfidencial.com/deportes/ ... ssi_97928/

Manchester City is preparing the 200M which is Messi's buyout clause

Manchester City are preparing the assault on Camp Nou. Next week they will do it with Pellgrini at the helm, but in a few weeks it will be Mansour bin Zayed Al Nayhan and his powerful bank account doing the arguing. The objective is nothing less than to take Messi to the PL in exchange for 200M euros, which is the buyout clause in his contract, with a salary close to 25 million per season.

The Argentine and his circle of advisers, headed by his father, know it. They have heard various messages and know about the plan. But City is not the only team fixed on his signature, the other being PSG. Both have spoken with Jorge Messi, who has also listened to Barca about their interest in securing a renewal, the 6th of the last 6 years. The French club, despite their economic power, have a problem with the French tax of 75% of all income.

Sandro Rosell left many fronts open for his colleague Josep María Bartomeu as President of Barca. The first and most contentious is the Neymar case with the judicial process regarding the tax authority still open. The second is the future of Martino, each day more removed from the ever-complex azulgrana clique. The 3rd, and most important in the sporting sense, points to Leo Messi and his uncertain future.

Just don't see it. Barca fans would riot if he was sold. And with FFP breathing down are neck ..... won't happen.

I'll be interested in this story when Messi is holding up a City shirt with his name on the back and [strike]Cookie[/strike] [strike]Marwood[/strike] Begiristain is standing next to him.

He would bring in more money than we would spend bringing him in. Shirt sales would go through the roof as well as all the other sponsorship deals by our profile being raised even more by such a signing.

Pellegrini: Messi to City is just rumours

Manuel Pellegrini has shrugged off speculation linking Manchester City with a summer bid for Barcelona star Lionel Mess

Reports in Spain suggested that the Capital One Cup winners will make a huge offer for Los Blaugranas' record scorer, but Pellegrini downplayed such talk as "just rumours" when asked about a possible transfer.

Spending £200m on a player? No chance. Considering Real spend £80m on Tranny, we'd be idiotic to spend anything even remotely close to £200m.

That turned out to be a bargain for them

I think the obvious problem here is FFP. However.. when that all falls apart in the summer (IMO) I reckon we want to be ready to make an offer. I believe there are many factors that would put us in favour to sign Messi IF there is any possibility and player willing.

Of course it is thinkable.

Undisclosed Fees are City's norm.

Who says our owner can't come up with a Sponsorship deal so that we get lionel for 65 mill for example.
