It’s nothing to do with brain farts for Pep. If he wanted to he could play the correct team to win the match - he doesn’t over think it.

The problem is his ego. He wants people to say, “Pep won that match with his tactics. It’s all on Pep. How amazing is he?!”.
Playing the correct team to win the match, it doesn’t give Pep the credit solely. He wants that and that’s why he chooses the random team selections.

Unfortunately that will never go away. We just have to get used to it.
