I struggle to believe that the club that have been so strategically perfect over the last 15 years, have allowed an entire squad to age together without any meaningful activity in recent transfer windows, at the same time we risk losing the manager.

The only explanation I can see for the lacklustre transfer windows, is that the club potentially do have some concerns about the outcome of the PL case, and haven't wanted to spend big just in case. When you win the treble and the champions league, your job is to get out there and do everything to maintain that level, and while we had a good season last year, and are well placed this year despite the current blip, I worry big time about next year.

Next season we're either going to have a new manager inheriting a squad very clearly past its collective best and risk getting into some questionable decisions of buying for a manager vs buying for the system, or Guardiola staying and needing to bring in 3-4 key players into his very specific way of playing that takes 2 seasons to get the best out of new players.

Either way, it doesn't fill me with confidence.

If they had sold walker ,KDB and Bernardo we would have had enough money in the bank to buy a couple of excellent players....instead we fucked up , 2 of those players are non existent this season and the other one has played poorly.

We wouldn't have missed any of them if we had sold them.

I have these thoughts about KDB every year, then he goes on a run which shows we were right to keep him. Hopefully it happens again!

We've turned a profit the last few years so I don't think there are any issues spending 200m in a window on 3 top tier players, the strange thing for me is that we've chosen not to.

I get that there are times when it may be seen that there's no value in the market, and perhaps Pep himself being up in the air has caused us to be reluctant to spend OR caused players to be reluctant to sign with the media telling anyone who will listen we'll be playing in the Vanarama Sunday league next year.

I think he’s probably off but waiting on the charges outcome.

I think we will be getting Alonso and I’m happy about that.

Makes me think he’s off - he knows, the club knows, the players know. I also think someone has already been chosen and sounded out (Girona manager is my guess). It won’t be announced until it’s right for everyone though.

I'd say the right time was a few weeks ago before the players decided to down tools. They've stopped playing. They won't start playing again until a new manager is in place or Pep comes out and signs for another 2 years minimum. Some of our squad are clearly having beefs with him and this has infected the club

Which players downed tools ? The ones that are injured or the youngsters getting a start because of so many injuries ?

We've just played four away games three long trips to London or the south coast and Lisbon.

KDB
Grealish
Haaland
Walker
Foden
DIAS
Ake
Not getting a proper tune out of any of these above
Nunes, Doku, Sav, Lewis, Akanji. Pussey, O Reilly, Eddy, seem to be trying
Stones not sure, made of glass
Silva trying but affected by events
Gundo past it
Kovatic and Gvardiol playing well

I would disagree with Haaland being in the ‘ not getting a proper tune’ group. He is top scorer again so far with more than a goal a game. No striker in history ever scores in every game and every striker has a drought every season. If he got any kind of regular service his stats would me more extraordinary than they already are. When you have a minimum of two central defenders marshalling you every game it’s tough.

Hard on Haaland when you’ve got Savio on one side that has zero end product and beats a player, goes back to beat them again and either loses the ball or has a shit shot. And then Nunes the other side, although he’s played alright recently he’s not a winger that’s going to provide chances for the striker.

Then he’s got Kova and Gundo behind him - again not going to provide anything for him, and Foden who is shite at the moment. Bernardo looks like he can’t be arsed.

Rico had created the most chances but apparently he’s the main problem in this City team and not up to it.

Kova has been hugely improved from last season. The rest including Foden, have got to look at themselves. Top players let’s see it boys.

Kova has been great - he’s not going to create chances for Haaland though. Much improved and love to see him battling. Top player and has done it consistently this season, not just for the odd game here and there.

Agreed if the others had been at his level. We would be 15 points clear of Arsenal with Liverpool in our sights again!!!

According to FootballInsider

"Pep Guardiola has reached an agreement in principle over a Man City contract extension, sources have told Football Insider.

The legendary Catalan boss is set to put pen to paper on a new one-year extension running until the summer of 2026."

Can’t be true because Sam Lee has told us all that he’s lost the dressing room…

It doesn’t mean anything, even if he signs it. Pellegrini signed an extension and it was a bluff to keep general harmony around the club.

I think he’s off. Somethings different…

Horton is still well connected with the club and he and his family were flown by City to the CL final and given tickets by the club. Can’t see why he’d lie

Yeah mate. He said on the Undr the Cosh podcast that City are good to him, I believe he still lives fairly locally, and that City flew him and ex players and managers out for the CL final.
