I agree,. I think the selection of the Ref , Lahoz got to Pep and he was worried about playing Fern from the off. In which case he should have started Rodri.

Still, this was a Final , no ifs and buts, or what could have been , by losing in the Semis or Quarters.

So, you have two players possibly ending their careers at City. Two Major players Kun and Fern.

you would think they have earned the right to start the CL , no ?

Regardless of if we lost the game to a better team. Kun instead of Razza ( especially after last weeks performance ) was a no brainer.

Fern coming on and risking the way that wierd Fcuk Lahoz makes decisions , would be a risk in the game worth taking.

We lost to a well organised defensive , counter attacking team. With a simple mistake. They got lucky.

I don't know how or why Lahoz only gave Rudiger a yellow card. It was a red card all day long. just like sticking your boot in over the top. He body checked tin tin and how ! Chelsea have a habit of doing this and getting away with it. Remember Luiz against Kun ? ( ref was the Rags fan). Red card all day long. Lahoz cheated us there , just like his theatrics with the hand ball Penalty claim. Why didn't VAR refs show their decision ? like in the PL. ? scandalous.

Anyway, we all know , in the final there has to be a winner and loser.

The Rags know this from earlier in the week, Chelsea know this from two weeks ago.

Last night the Chavs got lucky.

Still , the juggernaut rolls on .

If the gossip is to be believed jesus off to Spuds as part of the swap. Razza and Mahrez gone too?

I hope Fern extends one more season at least, he's great to have around. Would love it for Kun to change his mind too. Especially if Messi bolls off to PSG.

Kun was never an option to start last night. The team picked itself for everyone except pep. The only even slightly debatable issue was fern or rodri when it should have been fern for his leadership. It needed not be any more complicated than that. I think if we play our normal team and last night goes exactly as it did im ok with losing but its the manner. 5 years in a row with brainfarts. Mental.

We’ll win it one day. Maybe when we’ve effectively put FIFA22 in squad edit mode and added Kane or Haaland with Grielish and shipped out Sterling. With Messi on the bench. Basically when we’re so super human nothing, not even Pep, can stop us winning it.

I don’t actually even like that competition. I just want to win it so the owners get what they want, like a thank you back to them.

Have to scratch my head this morning as I feel numb. Can't remember when was the last time I felt like this after a City game & I don't even like this competition.

It is a new emotion, I feel like I have my hands all tied up and just have to go through this. Horrible because people that don't support our rivals wrote me, for example and told me they are sorry, and I somewhat get fucking upset on them because they are just talking with me about the subject.

I think I've turned this around 1000 time already and can't find the reason behind: "why?" Why on earth did Baldie did that last night?
4 games with Chelsea this season, in one we played our normal 11 and team and in that game we ripped them a new one. Then we experimented, even at our home game 3 weeks ago we played our normal game with the B squad and were the better team until the penalty. So why change that? Why go with something new?

Part of me is saying he wouldn't have done that if it was vs Madrid instead of Chelsea. Did he do it to prove a point? To show the board Sterling needs to go and he needs players? Did he do it because he was scared of Chelsea and Lahoz? Did he do it because he is an idiot?

All in all, our tactics last night must be one of the worst things that happened to us.

If he played his best team, and we played poorly and lost. That would be understandable, even acceptable, and we would move on.
That scenario would be a consolation, but we don't even have that.

I think there might be something to consider after last night: the fact he might have lost the dressing room after what happened.

Two colossal fuck ups tactical wise (last night and Lyon) so we have to question, do the players want to do it all over again with him?

If Chelsea had Harland or Kane instead of Timo “offside” Werner we could have lost by 3. In the end we were not as good as them, bringing on strikers was a waste of time, our midfield weren’t creating anything. Don’t remember a game where KDB didn’t make a pass, Gundo, Bernie and Foden seemed to be in others way rather than options. Sterling just played exactly how he has almost all season. Occasional flashes of speed but always the expectation he would turn the wrong way. Why didn’t Sterling and Foden ever swap wings? Just to try something different and create some width. Odd. We just stopped being City for the night, Chelsea did to us what we did to PSG. They stopped us playing our game.

We will be back. I’m gutted but this wasn’t Gillingham or QPR. Those games defined us and mattered far more at the time than this or any CL final ever will to me. I wouldn’t have cried like a baby if we’d won.

Except perhaps that after watching Leicester beat them he wanted Sterling's pace behind and sacrificed the whole balance of the team to do it by leaving out Fern. Mahrez would have made more sense.

It’s really sad that if you have an opinion that is based on what you have seen work for City, you’re called negative. And not only that, but that then means “this is why the board is shit and people fuck off”. Really sad.

The only thing I can think about why he made that team selection that he was worried the ref was going to do us over and Ferna was a big risk for an early red , apart from that it was a staggering decision.

It was surreal watching that , players looked overawed and froze and such the total opposite of what was coming out of the press conferences.

Not sure if I can ever forgive him , to many broken dreams last night and feel sorry for all the fans that went out there.

I thought after last Sunday that he really gets it after the Sergio speech , I feel like I have been lied too.

Gutted.

Agreed. This was a team that literally picked itself. I was sat in garden awaiting team news knowing Pep would 'do something'. Everything went dark when I saw the selection without a pivot. Stunning, simply stunning. His failure to absolutely rectify it at half-time was equally poor and throwing Jesus on instead of Kun was a gut shot.

This is what I posted on the other thread also, pal.
He is an emotion fraud. He speaks a lot of bollocks, this and that, but he does not get it, he has no idea what it means to be a City fan. He doesn't lose a night of sleep over a defeat with the rags, but loves to build them up.

Well, nearly 24 hrs on and I’m still confused and angry. Why was Sterling starting and why no DCM? I get that Sterling can run fast but he’s been nowhere near what we seen from him in the past and not starting Fern or Rodri just seemed criminal. I get that Chelsea bypassed the midfield space in the 2 previous games but changing the system meant that the back 4 were unsure of what cover they had, leading to a disjointed performance, even if there was only 1 goal scored.

Turned into a shit show, only made worse by the Chelsea players screaming and diving their way to the final whistle.

Totally agree. Can only fathom how hard it was to get out there and then see that line-up. Saying that, I bet you all had a great time in the build-up. Wish I was there.
