Really enjoyed the game tonight and would like to give a shout out to Bryan who doesn't usually get a mention in dispatches but looked a good player tonight.

Job done.

Ref was a fucking joke. Dean Ashton gave Fellaini MOTM because he could tell which one he was ( which is why he has a great big afro, to get noticed) & he ran about a lot & Barca once looked at him. 'It's not all about talent' says Dean. Obviously not.

England coaching job awaits.

Leicester's left back meanwhile had an exceptional game & did seem to have talent as well as working hard & defending well. Nemane had a bit of a poor game going forward though which made it easier for him. But still, very good.

Great effort from City tonight though. Missing Ambrose & Boadu is a big thing for this team. They are two real grafters as well as talent. Then Tosin missing; I've seen Charlie Oliver at several age groups &I don't get it, at all. Never seen him even reach average as a defender.

If he plays v Chelsea, we will lose.

But well done to all for getting this far.

Emile Heskey says Barker should be playing in City's first team, now.

I really enjoyed watching Barker, Bryan and Angelino. I'd love to see them get first team minutes once Sunday's done and dusted.

Garcia and Celina look decent but need more time.

Agree with that. (Might be a little early for Bryan, to be honest.)

That's the thing with all of them who might aspire to get some first team time, it probably is a tad too early for them. The shame is they haven't been given any opportunity to get a few minutes here and there to get a taste. The situation we are in though might mean they do get a look and maybe just maybe one or two will take their chance.

A good bunch surely will be fully involved in the pre season games.

When I went to see the EDS/U18s first, I was instantly hit by Barker and Angelino as being exciting to watch. However, I think Bryan has really grown on me and I tend to be drawn into watching him play, he looks really composed and has a good old head on young shoulders.

I think he will be one to watch for definite, its quite exciting to think that the group will be back together for Pre-season
Denayer
Lopes
Zuculini
Fofana
Leigh
Angelino
Barker
Boadu
Bryan
Gunn

We have a very talented EDS team that would rarely lose a game if we decided to have them as a B team!

We should see them involved if they are not loaned out. Lopes has been doing pretty well at Lille, a few weeks ago he was voted in the European team of the week, so you would expect him to either be playing, or loaned out again. But if I had to pick the first one, it would be Jason Denayer.

I think most of us who watch them regularly would agree with Pellegrini; that it's unlikely these kids will figure prominently next season & that it will take longer for them to develop, but that an exceptional talent or two, may force their way in. Pre season could be key to that. If they are just 'ok' then it's unlikely they will be a priority, but if they look the real deal, they will most likely get a shot at it.

Realistically I would expect Denayer to come into contention straight away, possibly Lopes, with the others following gradually during the course of the next two seasons, then more after that. Denayer looked a better player than Kompany, Alderweirald or Vertonghen when he came on for Belgium, & their coach decided to use him to replace Kompany, rather than move across either of the two Premier League centre backs who were playing fullback that night..

It would be nice if they broke through imediately, but it's understandable if they don't. What would not be acceptable to any of us I think, is those players being kept at City, & never getting any chances at all.

I would rather finish 6th with the kids in the team, than first with none of them ever getting a sniff. It's about the whole future of the club.

I agree apart from I would change your last line to 2nd. If we win titles, you cannot disagree with what we did in the season.
I have just been reading a few other teams forums and there are some threads about us and our ageing team. I must have read a good couple of hundred posts and not 1 of them mentioned our youth system, they are all dancing and singing that we need to replace our squad and we cant as we are hamstrung with FFP and this is our decline yada yada yada.

I have bookmarked them and will raise them from the dead when we introduce some to our first team (even if we win the FA youth Cup), just to make them STFU

Yeah do it.

We haven't particularly got an 'ageing' team. A couple of signings & one or two academy players brought into the squad, & our average age will be no different than anyone else's.

The rags are worth a look; key players; Rooney 29, Van Persie 31, Carrick 33, Ashley Young 29, Valencia 29,

If they think they are going to build a dynasty on the back of Mata, Herrera, Jones, Smalling, Rojo, Blind, etc they are taking the fucking piss. They are soon going to have to replace all the 29/30+ year olds listed above, buy a whole back 4, & then realise that Mata, Herrera, Blind & Fellaini are not top class players.

They have DiMaria & Facao, who are their big signings. Neither of them want to be there.

Lets see how their squad compares to ours in two years' time. They have bought a team, to win the league now, not in the future. They fucked it up.

Denayer is a yes for me and hopefully will prove it in pre season and be a big part of the squad next season. Lopes I also see as a must to be involved.Playing from the right side as he likes to do I think he would be more of a threat than Navas has been.He can go both ways and has a goal in him.The only question mark maybe against him would be his workrate on the defensive side of his game which is probably one of Navas's strengths.

The other likely candidates wouldn't be regulars but need to get more involved and at least get on the subs bench and some cameo opportunities. Then that grows if they show they are up to it.

Let's not forget Ian Nacho as well for next season. Could be a revelation. If it works out well we could have maybe four of five involved with the first team next season.

Iheanacho will not qualify as homegrown for another two years though.

So if he gets a squad place, it will have to be as one of the 17.

I would imagine Celtic fans will go to that, as they always seem to come out of the woodwork when Celtic are south of the border, it will probably be the same for their EDS team too.

Just went to et my tickets for this and its sold out!!

I take it that Celtic have taken up some allocation? Cant believe its sold out, full house 7k capacity,

Ffs!

I didn't even realise ticket details had been announced. This smells bad, like they have allocated loads of tickets to Celtic.
