I have to say it had started to enter my mind lately. I just got so pessimistic... its not like me normally... ah well, all's well now!
I don't want to be cynical (if that's the word to use here) but if they are putting the money into this re development of the surrounding areas, there isn't too many people if any, who could but Sheikh mansour out so he realy is here for the long long long term! :)

93 acres, it will have a swimming pool and it will be called the Amazon because it is covered in a dome of glass.
They will be able to replicate any condition they want, so they can set any temperature, any lighting conditions etc inside the dome. Handy if they are playing away games in Spain or whatever. Probably alot more to add but don't know that much.
First team, reserves, everybody will train there.
Is this ITK or a guess? The area at the side of the ground doesn't look big enough and, from a quick google map check, looks smaller than the land at Carrington, plus too narrow for pitches.
However, the land between Ten Acres Lane and Grimshaw Lane, which I think NWDA are doing something too looks perfect.

Arup and T&T chosen for Man City site work

Arup and Turner & Townsend have been selected to prepare 17 acres of land around Manchester City Football Club’s stadium in East Manchester ahead of major redevelopment.
Part of the former coal pit around the City of Manchester stadium had been earmarked for a regional casino but has been sitting empty since 2007. The remediation work, being carried out on behalf of Manchester City Council, will include removal of underground structures, treatment of excavated material and the demolition of the visitors’ centre.
Turner & Townsend is acting as cost consultant, while engineer Arup may see its role expand to include the extension of the 47,726-capacity stadium.
Abu Dhabi United Group, the owner of Manchester City, is understood to be drawing up plans for the project with Building Design Partnership (BDP). Other nearby landowners, such as Harrow Estates, are also thought to be in discussion with the club about potential development sites near the stadium.

Hmmm... looking at the bus stops around East Manchester – is a big glass dome the wisest structure to build?
It'll have to be brick resistant glass - but on the plus side, the players will be able to train in comfort while gazing out in wonder at the sights around Eastlands... the Gas Tower, Asda, an upturned shopping trolley gently bobbing in the murky canal waters!

Of course the final part of the plan involves building a huge sewage works on our Carrington site, with the gases all being pumped safely into the neighbour's field.

The yellow bit (plus the patch to the north of it) is what Arup have applied for permission to do remedial work (preparation for a development) plus demolishing the visitor centre, it is 17 acres, I think.
The red is the area that Harrow was going to develop housing and is now rumoured to be discussing for the new training ground. that's 40odd acres

Can't wait for the press to come up with some spin on this and how this is bad for football and that the Sheikh should rather spend all that money for the victims of the eathquakes in Chile and Haiti or something.

Sorry LAHAD but Cinnamon, just up the road is well posher than the ASDA mate...However their stew doesn't have that same quality of congealed skin over it...so you maybe right.

Using a bit of common sense here...If we increse the capacity, it will probably mean increasing the size, making the casino site a smaller area to build on.
If the Dreyfus Village site becomes a training complex, it will be a private complex for the club and if the same club policy is in place, the public will be ommited.
Personally, I would like to see a social complex built for fans. Not like the old Maine Road Social club but bigger and with far better facilities. Bars, cafes, restaurants, museum, conference areas etc. On match days, it would be a money earner and a great fans facitility.
