When he does it in the premiership week in week out i will beleive that, he never will though and how can he be the best player in the world if he has only ever played in the most unbalanced league in the world. Apart from real and barca the rest of the league might aswell be the championship. If you put tevez in the championship and he scored 100 goals a season would he be the best in the world or just an amazing player in a shit league.

I'm not doubting messi is absolute class but take him out of the barca team and put him and ronaldo in the prem and ronaldo will score more.

Not that it matters anyway because its not likely either of them will come to the prem.

He doesn't just play in the Spanish league though does he?

He also takes the piss out of the best teams from all divisions in the champions league thus rendering your argument complete bollocks.

He's the best player in the world by an absolute country mile.

When playing in the prem ronaldo had a 1 in every 2 strike ratio in the league with a 1 in every 3 in europe
Playing in spain he is 1 in 1 in the league and 1 in every 1.3 in europe.

Obviously playing in an easier league leave's you in better shape for the CL games.
Like i said messi is class but ronaldo is better. If messi ever plays in the prem he might tear the arse out of it and then i'll say he is better. But he hasnt and wont so no point in you crying over it.

So the Premier League now is the ultimate test for a player quality? Since when it has become the only way to judge a player? The Premier League is one of the best leagues in the world for sure but don't delude yourself thinking it's the absolute best; if a player constantly does the business in the champions league like Messi does there's no need for him to play in the Prem to see that he's the best player in the world, with Ronaldo just a tiny bit behind him.

Which is exactly Ronaldo's problem. Scores tons of goals against weaker opponents, because let's face it, in La Liga only Barcelona and Real Madrid matter, but in import matches, bar this year's Spanish Cup, he doesn't score.

Aside from that, look at his performance at the WC. One lucky goal and other than that, not much of notice. At least Messi got a few assists and overal broke up play pretty good.

twosips wrote:Lol at that person suggesting the rest of the La Liga is only as good as the championship. Utter bullshit.

Atletico Madrid, Villareal, Sevilla, Deportivo, Valencia? Those teams are just as good as the likes of Spurs/Villa/Everton/Liverpool etc

Atletico won the Uefa cup last year, Sevilla won it a few years earlier, beating Espanyol....not even gonna mention how well Spanish teams tend to do in the CL.

The reason that Messi has scored as many as he has is because he's simply one of the best player's ever, in the greatest team of our generation. Barcelona are the best team i've seen in my life time. They're something else....Ronaldo's scored as many as he has because he's just a fucking incredible finisher, and they too have a great team that would win our league easy. Barca+Real > any english team.

People don't suggest that English teams outclass Spanish in the CL ot WAFFA too much. But that is a completely different format, pace and everything. The point is, if you took any Premier team and placed them in La Liga right now, they would storm through it at 100 mile an hour. Take any of those Spanish clubs you mention and they would be in the Championship before you could shake a stick. Note how players like Yaya Touré, Silva and many others take 2 months or more to actually get used to the Premier and it's pace. Initially both looked a complete waste of money, as threads showed!

Of course if you gave the Spanish clubs time to adjust and alter players around and stuff, they may get the hang of it.

But you're kidding yourself if you think they can play anywhere near at Premier pace.

Do you know how the spanish league works though? The financial side of it is a joke and as a city fan you should know that if one team has more money then that team will attract better players and win stuff. but the same club without the money wont win fuck all for 30 odd years.

just to put it in perspective real and barca get about 120 million a year each for there tv deals and the next in line like athletico/valencia will get about 20 million and the shit teams at the bottom of the league will get about 5 million.

The league is an absolute joke so i just can't accept that someone who plays there and only there as the best player in the world over someone who has proven success in a proper league.

Messi is awesome but as far as im concerned you cant be the best in the world until you have proven yourself week in week out in a proper league regardless of CL games because its easier to play 100% in a one off game when you only have to give 50% in your league games and you don't have to deal with the fatigue. Not an opinion im ever going to change either.

oh hush...that would be about as underwhelming as it could get. I'd rather have Matt Jarvis and Charlie Adam signed up tbh than both of those two you mentioned.

Manchester City are ready to smash the world transfer record to bring Cristiano Ronaldo back to the Premier League.

Roberto Mancini's men joined European football's elite last week by qualifying for the Champions League for the first time.

Now City want the Portuguese superstar to spearhead their bid to win the trophy next season.

Ronaldo, 26, moved to Real Madrid from Manchester United in a record £80million move in 2009 and signed a six-year contract worth over £100m.

Under Jose Mourinho this season, he has equalled the goals record in a La Liga campaign - 38 - and still has a game to go.

The Spanish giants have inserted a US$1billion buyout clause in his contract to protect their prize asset.

Mancini said after City's FA Cup Final triumph on Saturday that he wanted players of proven Champions League experience to take the club to the next level.

Ronaldo would also prove a high-profile replacement for another ex-Manchester United star, Carlos Tevez, should the Argentine decide to leave .

Earlier this month, Spurs boss Harry Redknapp said of City: "They're probably going to spend another £200million this summer.

"They tell me they've got one or two players signed already who'll blow your brains out. They're not going to stop until they win the championship, then the Champions League, and I can see them doing it."

Despite complaining about Mourinho's negative tactics during the Champions League semi-final defeat to Barcelona, Ronaldo has enjoyed a super season in Madrid.

He has scored five goals in his last two games to take his total in all competitions to 51 this season, including the winner in the Copa del Rey final, to overtake Ferenc Puskas' record.

Ronaldo can set a new La Liga record by scoring against relegated Almeria this weekend.

"He is a decisive and influential player," said Real captain Iker Casillas. "Very few are capable of putting up the numbers he has. There are no more team titles that we can win this year, but we can help him win an individual award.

"We feel it is important for him to win an award when he is so deserving of it. He is one of the best players in the world."

Ronaldo goes missing in big games look at the madrid barca games.... Messi steps up to the mark n shows why he is the best in the world, ronaldo is very subdued goes down a lot n whinges like a twat? Not for me thanks I think that kind of money can be spent a little more wisely. We need players who will die for the shirt not players who are only out to make themselves look good

right, so he can go missing for the really big games like finals (did he not score in a few finals?) and we'll let Tevez or Yaya step it up.

I don't like the cunt, but this is all really reaching full on wet dream material with the thoughts of how strong City will be next season.

Wow.

Breaking News on SSN. City have officially said they don not want this girl and that the stories are "ill informed mischief making"

They don`t want to rock the boat cos we have probably bought someone else off RM.

Funny as fuck. The papers print a story and City refute it before it can even get going (probably because we don't want to upset Real) yet the media journo on SSN says that he has to defend the journo's who wrote it because they are respected and reputable people. He then goes on to try and tell us the story has some kind of truth to it and that it maybe some sort of smoke screen. Even better was when he showed the paper running it which showed the Carlos story underneath it, which says it all for me.

You'd probably say that they really couldn't make that shit up; but they did.

Intersting theory and might be true as well.

Shame it's not Mezul as he is the missing piece in our puzzle. Benzema would be nice as well and is possibility. As would be Higuain, although I feel he would be boom or bust in England depending who he'd settle. I just FEAR it would be either Diarra or Gaco.

Oh, and before anyone says it, Kaka can suck my balls.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Ha ha ha, Balague now on SSN saying that Real and Tranny are under the impression that we have offered 80 million but Real have stuck to their 900 million buy-out clause. Looks like Balague must've jumped on the story too early as well with his Twattering Bollox. Oh, and it's Balague's paper!

He's now insisting that we haven't heard the end of it and when questioned about what City have stated he continues to say that Real are 'under the impression'; how the fuck can you be under the impression, you either have an offer or you fucking don't you knob wipe. WTF man, you're full of shit, are you now an Arsenal fan?

Manchester City have rejected speculation that they are about to launch a big-money move for Cristiano Ronaldo.
With relations between Ronaldo and coach Jose Mourinho said to be strained, it has been suggested City could swoop with a bid far in excess of the £80million Real paid Manchester United for the former world player of the year two years ago..
But a City spokesman said: "There is no substance in these reports whatsoever,"
