I am completely calm & was not under the impression you were disagreeing with me.

I am just highlighting how silly is the argument some people have been making that we just stick random youngsters in the team because they may be good prospects as opposed to actually being ready. Rekik being a prime example. I could imagine him doing ok for 20 mins at the end of a game, when we're 4-0 up, especially if they bung him out at fullback or as part of a 3 CB set up, like they did initially with Savic.

If he starts at CB v a proper PL beast striker though, they'll eat him alive.

Well people seem to be taking exception to me for saying he shouldn't be, because he's not currently good enough & they're arguing how well he's actually done when he's played, so I would say yes.

He's not been a complete disaster though, fair enough he's not ready for the physical side atm but as things stand he's just backup.

I don't believe anyone would have him starting before Vinnie or Lescott, would they?

January - Kolo out to PSG, Gary Cahill in from Bolton.

Not a fan of Cahill myself but City seem to rate him, he's English and his age fits the profile of our signings.

Some have actually suggested that until they saw him play!

Look, once again: we need a CB who can be RELIED UPON to play games in the Prem. If Vinny or Lescott break a metatarsel or just get an attack of the shitters we need a player to come in & play CB away at Stoke or Chelsea or Anfield etc and WIN THE TITLE.

You say Savic wasn't a disaster, I say that you would have to redefine 'disaster' in footballing terms, for that to be the case. People are trawling through videos to find bits that he did RIGHT ffs! If he becomes Bobby Moore, in the future, wonderful. What about next week if we get an injury ? Or two injuries ?

It's not about whether he can BECOME a Prem Lg CB (I don't think he can, I think he will play elsewhere) We need a replacement. fully fledged PL CB asap.

I agree that we need another CB option, but I would replace Kolo before Savic. I believe this player should be experienced, willing to accept we have a solid CB pairing and so he will more than likely be backup and most importantly be aerially dominant. No one immediately springs to mind, well maybe Chivu as he's in the last year of his contract but I'd have my doubts whether he could adapt to the pace of the English game now.

I'll not be writing Savic off just yet in any case.

Everyone wants Kompany back in. Savic is a development centre half who's getting short appearances where possible and whose development is being rushed due to the collapse in form of Kolo. QPR would have caused us problems if Vinnie had played, not as much, but at least Savic has something to work on.

Look I'm not trying to finish off Savic' career before it starts but why do any of you see him as being better than any of the other 20 year old CB's in everybody elses reserve teams ? We don't see lots these lads getting starts in important games even for mid table teams, just one or two occasionally, yet we, as a title challenging side, are happy to put him in if we get an injury ? Why ?

Which particular attributes does Savic possess which make you think he will be better than any other kid CB ?

Nothing really sets him apart from any other 20 year old CB. The fact that Mancini sees something in the kid is enough for me to give him the benefit of the doubt for the time being.

We have a squad that's limited to 25. Bridge and Ned can't play for us. We have Kolo, his form is poor. But he was our plan. Savic doesn't count as one of the 25. Boyata is a 20 year old getting regular games on loan but he needed game time. Savic is a new signing, he needs to become part of the club.

He had his worst game, I think he'll get better.

I'm fully willing to do that, provided he's not undesrvedly shoe horned into the team.

Personally though I've been impressed by Savic only once; when Montenegro moved him to fullback. Suddenly their defence no longer had gaping holes in it & Savic put in a fantastic cross from which they scored. If he is going to play in the 1st team at all, I would like to see him tried there.

I don't think he'll make it as a CB even if he does get better. He just doesn't appear to have any of the requirements for that job. Perhaps it's down to nerves though & he has a disproportionate leaping ability ala Micah & hidden pace. He's keeping both well hidden if that's the case though. I see absolutely no evidence of either. It's not one game I'm basing it on, it's all of them.

I think Boyata will lose his CB place at Bolton now btw. He may be played at fullback though.

Savic is playing purely because he the next best CB we have in Mancini's opinion ... we can't pick players we dont have

My mistake, Ned and Bridge are in the prem squad, but there are other reasons why Ned isn't being picked.

I suppose it mainly boils down to nobody thinking Kolo would be as poor as he has so far, he was immense last season mind
