They both trained and are fully fit. They worked on a 3 .5.2 formation this week and last but I wonder if that was all about dealing with Carroll? Will he stick with it for Kuyt/Bellamy?

I'm thinking what winning it could do for us. Obviously mancini isn't.

Ah well...

Agreed, mate. This might not be the most glamorous cup on offer, but it is a cup and we need those. Also, win or lose there will be big headlines about the game tomorrow, and an aggregate win would be a wonderful way of shoving some of the shit we've had thrown at us back down various people's throats.

Starting BOTH Silva and Nasri is hardly a negative strategy, in fairness

Am I missing something, bindippers will come at us from the off. We will need to hold out for a good 20 mins and then get a foot in the game, also as already said they will be flying at us so why risk a flair player like kun. Best to hold out wait untill it calms down then bring on AJ and Kun, this will make them run all over the place after burning out in the first half. It could be perfect for us, at least thats what im praying for.

Someone missed a penalty - coincidence?

Coincidence that he wants the best 2 pen takers on at the end if needed. They sure as hell didn't miss one that I saw.Rekik was one that missed and the other is still in the team.

Hart
Richards-Savic-Joleon-Zabba
Nasri-Silva-De Jong-Barry-Alex
Edin

Usual 4-5-1 IMO. De Jong stays back to clean everything up. Silva and Barry run the show in the centre and Nasri/Alex exploit the mickey mousers down the flanks. Solid defensively which is sensible by Bobby because after Dalglish's condemnation of his own team after the NotloB game will only add to a Dippers reaction on the pitch.

C'mon City!

Very true. Just looking at one or two other, arguably weakened, positions.

Wasn't feeling this game so the strange formation just seems like an interesting experiment.

Suprising lineup I think, but Mancini knows a hell of a lot more about football than me and knows the squad better than I do so I'm sure there is logic to it.

If I had had to choose between winning last Sunday or winning this game I'd have picked this one, seeing Liverpool getting to the final would be almost as painful as seeing us go out!

(oh and I love their "the racists" name, its hilarious)

At least we don't have to listen to Burley or Coleman tonight: Alan Smith is possibly Sky's most impartial analyst

Graham Taylor swooning at You'll Never Walk Alone.

The old guy is going soft, and becoming a twat. Used to respect him and feel sorry for his treatment by the press. I'm now thinking I've been far too kind.
