Now the rumours say that we have had second thoughts about the exec because of his dealings with that Spanish airline, but could it be that we already knew about Pep & thus wanted to sort out Mancini's new deal before bringing in the Spaniard & setting off the rumour mill ?

If we'd brought either of them in before signing up Mancini to an extension, every news outlet would be telling us Guardiola was nailed on for City right now & cocking up our title run in. Perhaps they are still coming and we are just employing a bit of tact ?

Director of football?

I doubt he will be coming in as manager, but maybe as part of a management team to set the future direction of the club. Cook has been gone for a bloody long while now, it seems strange that no announcements have been made about the leadership of the club. If the spanish guys had bombed out for whatever reason, there is no apparent reason for not moving on to the next candidates on the list and getting them named.

I just wonder if there will be a big announcement shortly after the end of the season

I was meaning the announcement about the appointment of the chief exec rather than us having any immediate plan to give Pep a job. I think he will have a break, then decide if he wants to manage somewhere, in which case it could be at Arsenal or Chelsea. If he doesn't go somewhere as a manager, I recon we will then try to get him involved in our academy.

In the meantime,if we had brought in a Spanish Chief exec & then Pep quit Barca, everyone would have put 2 and 2 together & got 5, even if we have no intention of offering Pep a job in any capacity.

Right now there would be an absolute circus claiming we were about to sack Bob & the ragtops would be milking it trying to fuck us up. This way, if we were giving the Spanish bloke the chief exec job, we avoid any media circus & suggestions Bob is under threat. We can get Bob signed up to a new deal without any fuss then offer whatever job to whoever in the future without undermining him.

Pep has said he will manage Brescia for Free. The handover to his closest pal is also a break up of his team, so his break might bite him on the arse. AVB found out at Chelsea you need your OWN staff. I 'm going to the Espanyol game his farewell the Camp Nou.
