So back on topic....
You think tevez is past it? REALLY?
That's right. In my personal opinion the 'it' that he's passed was his best.
I loved the bloke - at his best he was a player who could carry a team single handed - he had a work rate like a duracell bunny but he wasn't as clinical last season as the season before . . no lack of effort but it was somehow less focussed and more bustle less direction - more running around and less goals. I'd have been glad to see him stay if I thought he wanted to sign up for another couple of years but he's done his stint in England and wanted a warmer more latin county.
IMO still a great player but most certainly past his best and the price we got was a reflection of that fact combined with his short remaining contract and his high wage expectation.
Out of interest; the word from the BBC is that we've saved 27 million by letting him go for 10 million + 2 million = 12 million. So 15 million of the 27 was wages and bonus which means that his 5 million a year deal will earn him 15 million over 3 years when he lost 15 million by going with 1 year left on his contract - he's doing 3 years for 15m rather than 1 year for 15m? Either he was very keen to go or there's something that doesn't add up there isn't there? Can someone explain?
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.
