Chelsea versus Rags.

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

I feel it would be the latter.

Agree - I've been telling rags all week I hope they can get something off one of the big teams. Even more fun than saying it to a Liverpool fan.

A draw would be a good result for us, but I won't be upset if Chelsea put 5 past them.

Having picked up on this thread this morning I am a bit taken aback about how people read in the posts of others what they want to simply to support the point that they want to make. Before the match yesterday I posted a couple of things that people seem to have either deliberately misread or misrepresented to support their points. This is a football fans forum where people share their opinions.

Debate and discourse is healthy and fun - people do not have to kow-tow to the opinions of others and people should not seek to make that happen.

For clarity, what I said was;

1/ “You are of course fully entitled to your opinion but of course should recognise that others have quite different ones.................”. Which I find it hard to believe could be misunderstood.

2/ “I have said in another thread that if at the start or in the early part of the season I could have been offered a choice of CITY winning the PL and the scum also qualifying for the CL or CITY 3rd and the scum not qualifying - it would be a no-brainer for me. Yes some of us hate them that much!!................” again hard to see how this can be misunderstood – it is my opinion but some seem to want to turn it into some ".......clearly do hate them more than you love city...”

This must be either lazy reading or agenda serving because my comment also included “............if at the start or in the early part of the season I could have been offered a choice....” and “At this point I would not accept the offer because I think that they are not going to qualify anyway...” So how can this be read as anything other than at the start of the season if given a choice....... and I would not take that position now.

3/ “...... Mate - I respect your opinion - please respect mine - and do not tell me what I think.............”
Again – I am clearly respecting the right of others to have opinions that I do not share whilst simply saying what seems pretty fair – don’t tell me what the fuck to think....

4/ “I suspect that you are not of my generation and have not had to go anywhere near the level of pain I have.

Johnny come lately fans (not saying you are one) will probably have a rag like mentality and only see trophies as the measure of success. A lot of my generation - and dedication to CITY - see other things.

The swing of power in Manchester - the bursting of the media wankfest bubble - and anything that hurts those smug, arrogant, know-nothing scum fuckers all have a value to me...”

Yes I make the JCL comment but clearly in the context of new fans would understandably not ‘get’ why some long-standing fans do have a comprehensive hatred of the scum – and are entitled to their opinion without others that have not the same experiences telling them what the fuck they should think.

5/ “If you do cannot understand it and cannot bring yourself to - just leave it. I can understand your opinion - and do not mind if you cannot understand mine - just please do not tell me my views?

I bet I am not the only one to think like that...” again – respectfully accepting the opinion of others – simply asking that respect to be returned.

I really think people ought to read posts properly if they are going to quote them in a manner that is challenging.

I can see that my views are shared by others – that is our right and if people think that they do not have that right I think they should get over themselves

So for me – my view is that I want the scum fuckers smashed this afternoon. I am confident that CITY are going to win the PL and I am looking to have the ‘double’ of that along with the scum not qualifying for the CL. If other people have less confidence in CITY than me and object to that view then I accept that to be their right – but if they want to insist I am wrong they can go and fuck themselves

Well I think you're wrong and that's my opinion but I'm not going to go and, as you suggest, "fuck myself" and I wouldn't expect you to either because I respect the fact that opinions may differ between fans so find no need to be so childishly aggressive in forcing my opinion upon others.

In my humble opinion, if you show less of the 'go fuck yourself' attitude then other posters may warm to you and be more accepting of your opinion.
If we had De Gea and the rags had Hart, we'd be top with a 9 point lead and they'd be in 12th place - that's the difference between a 'good' keeper and a 'top class' keeper - 12 places - think about it.

Says the poster who claims twobob is a sad arse in his signature.
"I used to be 6 foot 2 with curly hair, look what it's done to me"

"In my career so far it's the most important goal. You score the goal in the last minute to win the title. You're not sure if that's ever going to happen in your career again. I wish I could tell you how I did it but I can't. I thought for all the world that Mario was going to have a go himself but he just moved it on one more and it fell at my feet and I just thought: 'Hit the target, hit it as hard as you can and hit the target.' And it went in."

How is it Ragish to determine success in terms of the number of trophies? It's common sense. That's like saying it's wrong or arrogant to determine success in Tennis on how many Grand Slams they've won.
Number of trophies won is a legitimate measurement of success.

What I can't comprehend, not even slightly is that you'd rather Rags finish 5th and us 3rd than us winning the league and them making 4th.

It's ridiculous and I can't believe a CITY fan would not want us to win the league. You can talk about 'power shift' but the best fucking way for a power shift would be to win the league. Not finish 3rd. I don't just wanna see us be the best in Manchester, I want us to be the best in the country and maybe even Europe.

I would happily take the Rags finishing second if it meant we won the league. I don't care where they finish but the fact that you seem to think their demise is more important than our success just seems strange.

I'm hoping for a draw, but the last thing I want is a Chelsea win. We need to win the title this season for all sorts of reasons, not least that football in general wins if we win, given how we play the game.

I will be hoping for a United win. A four point gap over Chelsea is not to be sniffed at. Won't happen though.

Have to admit, that United side today looks awful. I'd be amazed if they even got a point today.

I can't understand why any city fan would rather finish 3rd rather than win the league! Bacon face said a few years back that we were obsessed with them, and by the sounds of it a few on here are. I just want to see city winning trophy after trophy to the point where I'm not even interested in the rags as we have 'bigger fish to fry'. I can't wait till the day when I can say to my rag co-workers that the derby is now their highlight of the season! Does this mean that some on here would prefer to sit in the away end at the swamp, cheering on whoever they are playing against, rather than watching city at the etihad?

Herb - seriously - no offence meant to you. Read my post again and you will see that I am absolutely full of respect for other peoples opinions. I am only saying people should go and fuck themselves if they think they have a right to insist that mine is invalid and I must change - lets all just respect people have differing opinions.

Anyway I have put my money where my opinion is and lumped on the Chavs - I cannot believe the price.

Honestly mate, you seem to be a decent skin, but you have to sit back one day and ask yourself why you are constantly in debates about united?

Seriously?

Etoo I can't stand.

United are so wank. Why these cunts don't buy a decent MF and decent CB is a fucking blessing.

That Belgian kid is a cheating little cunt. Luis should have had a yellow already so no drama in the card he just got for me. Justice.

Mourinho unfairly condemned a good player like Mata to the bench because he might be contributing less defensively

Pellegrini got Dzeko more involved in defenending, droppping deep to get involved in play
