I hope we find one but I think it's likely we are still trying for the Mangela/Benatia ilk at present, & if they aren't possible, Pepe but not for the money quoted. Unlikely either Real or City will do a deal there I would have thought.

After that, if we don't find a gem, we are on the last train to Slothville & all the wheezing fancy Dans or overrated cloggers mentioned on here for the past two years & probably for big big money.

Once we go down the Hummels or Vertonghen avenue, we are stuck with a paceless cb, who has to play, for the forseeable future & if it doesn't work, it's the Spanish Archer for Pellegrini & back to Bob style defending to cover it. You can teach Mangela to defend in the Prem, even if he starts badly, but you can't teach pace; you just have to hope they cope without it.

If we do have to spend fortunes on some flicky cunt who can't run, then Hummels would be my choice, but Dortmund don't need to sell.
