Hazy, if we were gonna have to spend upwards of £50m to get Barkley this summer, would it not make sense to leave it another year, pay another £10m if he kicks on?

Nobody else is gonna shell out that sort of money for him on a whim, and if the rags want to, let them take the risk. It seems silly to pay that sort of money when really you want a player who is a nailed on cert for that type of cash

Barkley had a great season Ted, what are you on about. He also had most clubs on alert

disagree about isco looking lost. he hit the ground running there but got bounced to make way for their big money monkey boy. then he flitted in and out of the team due to modric and later kroos and rodriguez. never really got a fair shake until injuries forced ancelotti's hand.

edit: oh and fuck barkley. he is not good enough and would be a huge waste of money.

They played 433 which left him out mate, Pogba for me at any price, Barkley over priced.

He is never ever worth 50 mill, for me we have played silly twats with Centre mid, from De Jong to Fernando what have we spent 70 mill and De Jong still looks better for the screen we need with in front of Vinny, who I would love to ask who was the best CM you have had. Slow build up with Nigel I get that, but he put fires out and was a Team man who buzzed at City. Pogba another level, and Vieira could be the man to seal that deal. I just hope RM do not have him and Reus in the bag. If they do again we see a top club prepared to mess with a formula that is working.

A line I have used so many times WW only to be told he was crap !, as I said he would have gobbled up Santi for Sunday lunch and they would have no out ball or release of pressure.

RMC Sport says Pogba's price will be around 75 million euros or under 60 million pounds and getting lower! PSG said to be really keen but that if he leaves Juve he'd prefer to go to the EPL. If he doesn't go to Real we surely have to pull out all the stops for him. Patrick V over to you.

In a choice between Pogba or Barkley, it's easy. Toss a coin. Heads it's Pogba. Tails it's Pogba. Him and Reus and Isco would rejuvenate our attacking prowess no end. Pay what it takes. Madrid do and unless I'm mistaken, shouldn't we be using them as a benchmark

i don't want to sound negative but something tells me he is going to go to one of the clubs that have bigger names and less ffp worries than us (although our management has done well anyway).

i would really hate to see him go to united or chelsea, of course, so please be madrid if that happens.

i suspect it will be at least 70 million as well.

i do think we have a good chance to get him, as there may be less competition for places here in central midfield than some other clubs, but the competition to buy him will be so steep that the price will be astronomical and we can no longer offer wages better than other clubs it seems. whenever it's this kind of fight for a player i just don't see us being alluring enough just yet (i.e. mangala preferred chelsea).

reus and barkley would not be a bad fold instead, and barkley's value seems to have dropped a bit so the price may end up being more in the 30-40 mil range, which could mean another quality player instead of one for the same price.

Scary but could be spot on. We do need Home grown, which brings into play the stupid prices and an element of City getting the balance right. Rodders was also a sick note.

You do know who Pogba played for before Juve don't you ?

Messi for obvious reasons , is the only player that should cost mega bucks.

I thought Barkley showed great potential , but since he came back to Everton from his loan period, he seems to blow hot and cold. Certainly not worth anything like the rags paid for Rooney as a teenager with such potential all those years ago ( to improve their Youth Academy !!).

Growth from within must surely be the strategy , no ?
