Jovetic Not Happy

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Probably wouldn't make sense to complain when he's been injured as he would have been unavailble to play.

Has he been injured more than Dzeko this season ? Or produced less when he has played ?

Lets be realistic, this is a 2 game campaign we have left in the CL so there wont be any q-f barring an absolute miracle of several critical Barcelona injuries - say Messi, Suarez, Piquet, Iniesta and Neymar all getting the shits on the plane over here. As an aside, in the unlikely event they fly via Jet2 and try one of their sandwiches this possibility increases ten-fold.

Sans Toure in the first leg, we will again have Fernando "shielding" the back 4 ..... "shudders" - a draw would be a decent result for us at home given our mickey mouse defending of late.

Jovetic can whinge all he wants. He wouldn't have started either game, and at best would have got 10 mins as a sub in one of the two legs.

Don't think Fernando's been that bad when he's been asked to solely shield the back four, in fact he's excelled. The problem with him is when he's asked to play a more expansive game in a two man central midfield he just hasn't got it.

We may actually be better off without Yaya for the first leg, keep things tight and hopefully go to Camp Nou in a few weeks with it all to play for.

As for Jovetic, perfectly understandable and expected reaction for him.

The problem being that when you play Barcelona, it is hard enough to get much possession and retain it anyway. With Fernando in your central midfield - a guy who is utterly useless in possession of the ball - it makes it even worse.

The genuine fear is that like last time, Barca will have the ball 75% of the time, we are left to feed off scraps and chase the ball for 90 mins with the inevitable outcome. Lampard would be the option to consider for the home leg, alongside Fernandinho, Milner, Nasri and Silva in a 5 across the middle with Sergio up top. Fernando should be locked in a cupboard at the CFA until the 90 mins are up - back on topic, he can keep Jovetic company for the game.

Reckon we'll be chasing the ball regardless Ted, that's why I think it may not be a bad thing if Yaya's not in there. Not sure if Frank would have the legs to keep up either.

Sorry Goaters, just realised I called you Ted, don't know why I did that, I must have just read a Ted Talk on some other thread.

I did the same thing to OD the other week, its a very easy mistake to make. If you closed your eyes and clicked reply anywhere on the board, chances are it would be to Ted 99% of the time :-)

Dzeko is a proven premier league player who has been there and done it for MCFC although having a poor season thus far . Jovetic has delivered not a lot to be fair .

In that case we'd both wouldn't like Kolarov or Dzeko either for the same thing. The thing here though is that Kolarov and Dzeko didn't go to the papers because Pellers and Txiki believed they were a better pick over Jovetic. Isn't that the point.

They've both done similar already.

I think Jovetic has had enough criticism already. He was injured last season, he's done ok this season. He's not the enemy.

Bloody hell Ted, what's with the amateur dramatics, we're debating on t'internet, not giving him the Ricky Edgehill extreme from the cheap seats.

The majority want to see the lad do well as they know he's got something in there, it's just that he's not done it often enough as yet.

Right.

Ted, most people are expressing their view why he wasn't picked and a few have just decided to have a pop due to his girly ways. Nothing more.

This is a genuine question; when did Kolarov have a moan and go to the paper? Genuine question because I actually don't remember it and would like to read the article.

As always with any debate, if somebody puts it across in a manner that offends the poster then it will sometimes lead to an aggressive debate rather than a thoughtful one.

Like I said, the majority want Jovetic to succeed, I know I do, but as has been mentioned, he goes down at the sign of a Lemsip and that's not what supporters want to see.

I'm fairly sure he did, but can't link you to it.

Thing is, if asked, a player is bound to say he is disappointed not to be playing regularly. And this is the issue 'if asked'

If jovetic or Kolarov, Dzeko etc rang the media and said "come round mine, I'll make you a brew and tell you what's on my mind", they are cunts. If however their national press asks them a question, they have every right to say how they feel - and in almost all cases they sign off by saying they will fight for their place.

No issue for me unless it's a blatant moan at the club, manager or colleagues.

I can't remember the details but he was talking about leaving etc. Same routine as Dzeko.

They are entitled to it & my opinion is that a lot of it is people having a go at Jovetic because they have an excuse & I don't much care for it. I'm equally entitled to that.

RE: Kolarov - I couldn't find the links either.

On topic, I actually think Jovetic is a quality player. He's always trying to create something and although he does lose the ball a lot, it's no more than any other player at the moment. The difference is Jovetic is more direct in his approach so it's most likely it'll be in an area that's more noticeable, like on the edge of the opposition area.
