The truly great players step up and take charge of football matches stamping their authority on it. Also, the great players assume more responsibility if they are not playing with usual first team players, coaching and cajoling team mates.

Sterling doesn’t fall into this category at all, yet he wants the pay rise that the aforementioned great players would get. No, Raheem, you have to earn that and quite frankly at the moment you will be lucky to still be at the club after the summer transfer window.

I am a fan of his and have given him more leeway than most this last year but I honestly don’t think he can/will improve his individual performance or that of the teams.
