Nah,
people are free to moan as much as they want. Kids who have lived this dream most of their lives will complain us not winning Champion's League and whatnot. I get that. But people who were around when we went through all that shit complaining is somewhat weird as just like Dazby said we have won more than I could've ever thought even in my wildest dreams and I mean that literally. Even if Sheik got bored tomorrow and we went back to being shit I got to live through the glory years and that's good enough for me.

This.
Season expectations gone from hoping not to lose against the Rags and avoiding relegation to looking forward (with Alan Ball, Stuart Pearce, etc...) to fantastic attacking football (with Pep) as we go for a quadruple (again).
Younger supporters could not possibly understand how low the bar was set for dinosaurs like of me.

Yes it lives on. The Main Stand moaning brigade.

All opinions though. Im not a fan of either Grealish or Kane, I was there with fat bob and way before same as a lot on here. Expectations have shifted, rightly so with the way we have evolved and we have come out of the pandemic in a lot better shape than most. That said, im not going to spurs and was thinking of going away for a week or so and also missing the norwich game which would be the first time since early 80s that i would have missed either first home or away game. Strange feeling at the moment but hope it all kicks back in when I'm back in my seat

For instance, for me, getting top wasn't what I've expected. I mean, don't think I hate winning all of these trophies! Please, keep them coming.
What I despise is the ... entourage. When we were shit, we were just shit. Now, reaching this level, everything is so toxic. We've met the cartel, we've seen what today's football actually is from the inside: shit painted like a chocolate cake.

I love that we ruined their plans for so many years, but it's a bit too much to hear and accept that this generation, which is, arguably, the best in the history of EPL, will never get their true recognition because of the corrupt. That we worked our ass of both on and off the pitch will never get the respect they deserve.

I understand but do not agree with the we were shit years ago so we should just be happy now and say nothing philosophy. I am in my late 40s and remember the good and bad days of the last few decades.

However life moves on and who was it that said "That was then and this is now".

Not trying to offend or anything but I find it very bizarre. We have a fantastic squad, a very highly paid manager, (one of the very finest on this planet), great stadium, top academy etc etc. To think that these things shouldn't be questioned because of what we were at any stage in the past just makes no sense at all.

If we lose a game, we are as entitled to be as annoyed about it now as we were 30 years ago.

If all fans thought like this, we’d never move forward as a club. If you’re not arsed about whether City win anything ever again, why carry on supporting City?? Wouldn’t it make more sense to go follow another sport?

Genuine question as well, because the club isn’t the same club it was when I was a kid with my season ticket watching us lose to Bury and Stockport whilst the Rags were winning the treble. It’s a club that NEEDS to win trophies. The whole “we were shit once” argument is bollocks. We were also class before that and won a European trophy.

So if you’re not bothered about whether we win trophies or not, then why carry on supporting City?

Spot on mate. I was a kid growing up surrounded by rags that took the piss because we barely beat Macclesfield 1-0. We had our season ticket all the way through that shit period and beyond. Every Saturday I’d get up knowing City would likely lose that weekend.

I’m not going to apologise for not wanting that for my daughter growing up.

Just for the record, I’m not one of the ones that’s “moaned” during this summer. I think we’ve had a good summer and I’m happy the season is starting.

But I can see why people aren’t and they’re entitled to feel that way.

I can't wait for the season to start. Really looking forward to getting back in my seat in The Colin Bell Stand again. Weird not being there last season, I was 60 in May and I've had a season ticket since 1969/70. Just got to work out how to sort the ticket to my phone but that's a different story.

I said that if we could only get 1 big signing in the summer i wanted it to be Grealish. I know it's a game of opinions but i really think people not excited by him don't watch any neutral games. His goal at the swamp, his performance when they put 7 past the dippers, his performance every time he's put on an England shirt. His performances getting Villa up, keeping them there and then last season having a shot at Europe until he got injured and they went to pot.

However now we've got him I'm happy to be greedy and take Kane as well. A lot of journalists supposedly in the know say he's now reiterated to Nuno he wants to come here and they think the deal will be done before the end of August. I've never liked him at Spuds but he'd score a hatful with us and in my opinion we'd win the league comfortably then whereas without him i'd say we're in a 2 horse race with Chelsea.

It was meant to be a positive Mase. Stones was raving about Pep as Grealish had done so i was just pointing it out to all those who were worried the players would react negatively after the CL.

Because back then I wanted to win one. We've done that now in the most amazing way possible. I'm not going to change clubs though because of it.
The point is, when we lost the chumps league final, I was disappointed for a day, then got over it. I know we'll win it soon, just like every other trophy. It's now not a matter of if, but when.

Sit back and enjoy the ride.

Of course negative press is somewhat bothersome and supporters of other clubs will call us plastic club and all that. I don't care much. They hate us 'cause they ain't us.

Me, I actually hated the patrionizing "everyone's second club" tag when we were shit more than some jokers talking about petro dollar and calling me a gloryhunter. I know where I've been and I remember where we were as a club. I don't need to explain myself or our club to anyone.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

What kind of absolute nonsense is this? I've supported City since I was six. I'm 43. One third of a century. I've seen all sorts of stuff happen. Good and bad. Ups and downs. Why the FUCK would I "go follow another sport"? That doesn't even make any sort of sense. Who said I don't love City just as much as I always have? Time has given me perspective though. I love the club no matter what. Whether we are winning some world megagiants or some lower league club at the end of the day the rush and the excitement are more or less the same. It's also about tradition. One week at a time hoping to see us win and being disappointed when we lose. I love the game of football and football is about that rush.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

It’s true when the Pink on a Saturday night was the only paper to give a true account of City, I sulked more than I ever do now, Now as I get older I take the defeats as a pinch on the upper arm, don’t get giddy this is sill Man City fuck all is straight forward even with the wealthiest owner, the best run club on the planet we still find a way to fuck it up. But I’m ok with that it’s normal x
