Haaland. Is it time to cash in?

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Scored one. Missed another 3. After starting the season like a freight train he has tailed off hugely.

It's a football forum to discuss and debate football related matters pertaining to our club. Might seem strange to you and that's your right and opinion. But with hindsight we should have sold KDB summer 2023 when he was at his peak because since then injuries have plagued him. Foden could well be the same, time will tell. So asking a question about a player for me is not strange, rather it is a conversation starter

He was gesturing to Pep to acknowledge the superb away fans chanting for him. Nothing wrong with that. He played well yesterday. Where would we be without his goals? Doesnt bear thinking about. Need to see more crossed to the far post for him. Hes a huge handful there.

Good to see Savinho attacking the far post when the play’s on the other side. Need that on both sides. Will improve the non Haaland goal count.

Respectfully, read the OP again. It is not a get rid thread

Is that right ?
I recall us scoring left right and centre before he joined us and we played better IMO.
If we cannot get the ball to the way Haaland likes to receive it he ends up being a spare part on the pitch.

I preferred it when we played with a false 9 - much better all team performances.

It's one or the orher isn't it? We either play to Haaland's strengths i.e. early balls through the middle or over the top and put some crosses in, or, he's a passenger against a packed defence with cbs wrestling him.We need to push Foden, Grealish or McAtee up around him if we are sticking to possession based game-plan but it would be better to set us up to suit him

And our wide players getting in and around the box when were in possession high up the other flank. We need more goals from them. Wouldnt hurt to seeing a midfielder looking to make late runs beyond the play. This season more teams are going at us which means more space behind them

I was simply making a statistical point. Our second leading scorer is Gvardiol with 3 is it?

He is a great striker but his strike rate is decreasing. Our goal tally per game was higher and our goals conceded was lower before the big lad arrived. So i say our team performance has deteriorated. Arguably without him we would have bought another forward, kept Alvarez and played better overall,
I'd class Haaland as a high maintenance player.
Lewandowski a much better player - still and he has a zimmer . It's a great debate, when to cash in on players , why is it considered strange.
Equally we could debate Walker, Foden, KDB although those players don't provoke too much debate

It's not rocket science that he scores a lot more with a fit Kev. He scored a shedload the 1st part of this season when Kev was firing.

This is true, Kev when on fire is great for Erling. However ,why can't Doku see this and go looking for the good cross to Erling and not just any old pass in the box ? When he does actually pass. He did (Doku) get an assist recently, but i think that was more down to poor ball control than intentional.

We need to forget about KDB , he’s not part of the future and he’s very rarely part of the present !
It’s improbable we will sell Haaland any day soon so we should bring in players who can feed him - Doku cannot and will never be able to as he has zero football
Intelligence - Savio might be able to if pep can teach him to release the ball and not try and get past 4 defenders every single fucking time.

I'd experiment more with grealish in midfield or Silva more centrally . Give my back teeth for a De Jong ten years younger as well

Would rather have Gareth Barry from that era. A proper midfielder who would be class under Pep.

Silva is also very likely to not be with us next season. Arguably he hasn’t been this season in truth

Sadly very true of Bernardo in the main part this season, not helped by having Gundo thrown in too.

Cannot have any sentiment with players that have won us trophies - that’s what they are paid to do.

Bin half of them and we get a new bunch in - starting with the defence - no stop gaps next month please !!

What piss me off is when you hear “they’ve been a great servant” fuk that they’ve played for a club on a massive wage and majority of the time wouldn’t give a fuk once gone.

Some fans are deluded mate , they think otherwise.

Us fans are the Man City FC..managers and players come and go...we don't go anywhere.
