Lescott doesn't want to answer much about Moyes/Everton and is just looking forward to training and the chance to play for a club with such ambition.

Silvinho wants to help take the club onwards and upwards. Wants another 5 years of football.

Hughes a bit coy on Dunney and reiterated the old line, 'If someone comes in, we'll speak with player' speel.

Also stated that if someone came up on the radar, we may have a dabble.

Dunney still captain as it stands.

I'd take the wry smile to mean that there's every chance we'll see a couple more new faces

To Hughes, 'Is that the end of your spending?'

*BIG grin*, 'Well you never know'

I wish he'd said yes and surprised us cos then I'd have no reason to get excited again

He actually stated "if someone came up on the radar, we may have a dabble"?....Leslie is learning a great deal from Khaldoon!

Two things I took from that and reading a little between the lines were.....

1 - Dunnie is on his way which is a shame but if he wants to go, don't stand in his way.

2 - There's still plenty going on in the background and things will only be over on 1st September at 5.00pm.

I'd stop the buying now unless some really really top player became available.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I agree we should stop now, apart from if Messi becomes available & of course young players for the academy/reserves. There's another transfer window in January. Surely we've got enough people in now that we can see how they go & make a move then if we find an area that needs improving?

Surely this is a mis-quote?

"Joleon is arguably the best centre-half in the Premier League and can be potentially for many years."

I was disappointed in the comments," said Lescott.

"I feel they were inaccurate. I'd like to address them at a later date and talk more positively about my move."

"I don't think I disrespected any of the players - if I did I apologise,"

Handled himself very well there. Well played - can't wait to hear the real story in a couple of weeks though.

I don't think he's far short of being the best. and hughes is right, we'll get 4 years of peak level football from this guy at least.

i emailed a die hard, never misses a game, evertonian mate of mine this morning to ask him what he thought of joleon, he got back to me saying this.

lescotts worked best with jagielka as they communicated very well but when he played with yobo it didnt work as well so will have to see what he is like with toure and richards depends on how much they communicate in the defence.

his best attributes are his positioning and that he tends to play the ball out from the back on the floor rather than hoof it which is what the other ones did. and of course his goalscoring, he scored 17 goals for us in 3 seasons so hes a big threat from set pieces.

Sounds like he'll fit the bill here. I can't wait to see him play.

I'm underwhelmed by this signing. The only positive for me is that he's English. He strikes me as a Leighton Baines type of player. Scores a few goals and gets overrated as a result.

I shall be keeping very close attention on his defending. I hope he comes up trumps. But I think we could have done better.

Meanwhile Hangeland is still at Fulham and the Toffees have 20 mill burning a hole in their pocket.

I'd actually already have a bid in for Torres & Gerrard, not in the hope of signing them but just to cause trouble.

I won't be getting to carried away with is goalscoring record now he's with us.

All of Barry's corners were hit to long and all of SWP's corners couldn't even reach the six yard box. Lescott will have his work cut out to get on any of them.
