Not been a member of a supporters club since the British Aerospace branch. What do you have planned for the night?

Irby we are still not affiliated to the osc so we dont have any guest speakers or owt like that.We do have a website under construction though so when its up and running i will be able to update our future plans. We should be osc affiliated by the end of September so hopefully by our October meeting we may have guest speakers and the like.

We went CSA when we set ours up as the OSC were a bit too keen on restrictive rules. That was years ago though TBF

Try and get Gary Owen, Tommy Booth and Ian Cheeseman down, you don't need the affiliation to get people who aren't club employees. The ex players and journalists are all also much better guests than current players. A good way to build up relationships is to hold a charity event

Irby do you by any chance have contact numbers/details for any of the three you have mentioned?.

Afraid not mate, I didn't book the guests so didn't really have contact numbers and I'm not in contact with any of the other ex committee members nowadays.

I know that Ian Cheeseman used to live in Chadderton and so might still be pretty close to your branch, I'd try contacting him through the BBC and give him a few alternative dates as he is in demand both for work and by supporters clubs. He is also a good guy to get on your side with regards to the contacts. Also as you will see in my other thread, he has a book out at the moment so might be even more predisposed to coming out

If you know anyone that plays golf at North Manchester then they might have bumped into Tommy Booth.
