I don't think the balance of power is shifting just yet.

Too early to say now but to quote Hunter S Thompson ...

"That sense of inevitable victory over the forces of old and evil. Not in any mean or military sense; we didn't need that, our energy would simply prevail. We had all the momentum; we were riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave..."

How did that one end?

We won a friendly FFS.

something along the lines of ... "in five or six years, and with right kind of eyes you can look back and see the high water mark were the tide eventually broke and rolled back."

I purposefully quoted it with out that :-)

However It was more of a quote to cover the more Holistic view I have on how we've evolved ever since the first day that the great Sheike baught our glorious club and started to dust off the years of crap to find that polished gold that we used to be many many years ago!

Since that Day we have had the momentum although sometiems it hasnt felt like it, we have been riding the crest of a high and beautiful wave so that quote isnt just about the win over Barca - its a feeling thats there for a while ...

And although I decided to leave out the last part of the quote for my own editorial reasons - I actually think its a poinent reminder to us all that when/if we make it to the dizzy hights that we're aiming for then we cant just rest by our laurels and that at some stage we will start to roll backwards - but if we anticipate it and prepare for that now rather than when we progress further - we become better equiped to deal with it and evolve arround it.

We won't know the date in advance and probably not for a while afterwards. When it has truly shifted we can look back and say, that was the day for us.

You know what? I agree with londonblue. Some events are symbolic and catalyze a change in attitudes that creates a new longterm worldview. It may have only been a friendly, but nonetheless we beat the European Champions, proving that we can compete at Champions League level. Did any City fan realistically expect that? Not only that, but we finally settled our disastrous defence, though Ben Haim did his best to wreck that. And all on the same night that United completely lost their mojo.

If this is the moment that City stopped thinking like a small club, then it could be the dawn of a new era. Knowing City's capacity for self-harm though, we might have a few wobbles in early infancy.

And like the losses to south african teams, it was a friendly that we shouldn't read too much into. Good win, awesome opponents, but still a friendly.

And Still only 1 game - We have always worked well as a team when seen as the underdogs - its when we're viewed as dead-certs to win when we struggle...

Consistancy in winning is what we need to get instilled - and that wont be one day but a few ...

Oh yes and HST is now an adopted blue ;-) LOL

Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.
