Carling Cup Team

Postby roadkill2487 » Thu Aug 20, 2009 4:34 pm

Now that we have Crystal Palace to look forward to in the second round of the Carling Cup, do we play a full strength squad or give our bench players a chance to play?

This would be the starting 11 I'd like to see start.

----------------Taylor--------------------
Zab------Ned---Dunne(c)----McGivern
--------------De Jong------------------
Weiss-------Ireland-------------Petrov
-------Tevez------------Bellamy--------

Subs: Nielsen, Garrido, Richards, Adebayor, Barry, Etuhu, SWP.

If were serious about winning trophys, they'res no real reason for not starting with a strong side. We oonly have this comp and the league to worry about until Jan. So I'd stat with a side good enough to knock most teams over whilst keeping others fresh comming from the bench

Onouha...........................Toure..............................Mee...................................Bridge

Weiss.............................Clayton...........................Ireland.................................Petrov

You play whatever team plays against Wolves. You can't mess about in this cup as we've found out in previous years, this is a plum tie for Palace and they will be up for it.

carling cup team = our strongest available team

no fecking about
Berbatov wins golden boot, spends following season on the bench while his team loses title on goal difference. Well played, Fergie.

Should imagine Neil Warnock will want to win this one. If we stick a bunch of kids in, they'll get the shit kicked out of them & Palace will score easily from corners, free kicks, crosses.

Strongest team, no question about it. We have no European football and fucking massive squad. We can deal we bit of fatigue during the season just fine.

It has to be our strongest team. The only concession i would make, would be to possibly shove some kids on the bench, to take part if the game becomes safe.

Absolutely. The kids should know there is a path into the first team if they perform.

CORRECT - THIS COULD BE OUR BIGGEST CHANCE OF WINNING THIS CUP THIS SEASON... THERE ARE WEAKNESSES IN IN MANY TOP CLUBS AT THEW MOMENT AND WE HAVE TO TAKE ADVANTAGE OF THAT FACT.........
THE SO CALLED TOP 4 WILL FOCUS ON THE TOP SPOTS EVEN MORE SO THIS YEAR THAN BEFORE WITH US AND SPURS HAVING STRENGHED OUR SIDES AND WILL NOT PUT OUT STRONG SIDES (EVEN LESS THAN LAST YEAR)

GO WITH A TOP SIDE AND LETS WIN THIS CUP.

Surely Robbie Mak could be selected for this match though, the kid is knocking them in for fun and at some point we need to give him the opportunity.

I agree with that and maybe Trippier and Weiss...but only if we feel the game is safe. We don't want to even give "Typical City" a chance mate.

I would hope Weiss will start.(The lad has proved he WILL break through this season)

Trippier and Mak to come on when we have a couple, save the last sub for "just in case".

Play Johnson(if fit), Ireland, Micah, Ned, SWP and we could have as many as 8 academy graduates on the pitch.

Id rest Ireland, and SWP, Robbie keep the rest the same, they need game time. Need to try and keep Ade and Tevez playing together, as well as the defence.

It's Crystal Palace ffs, they should be quaking in their little boots

As were Brighton and Forest last season...We are in it to win it...we have a big enough squad not to take unecessary risks.

Every year we say we have a good chance in this comp as non of the big teams take it seriously.Besides Arsenal that is a load of bollocks. All the big teams want to win this cup as well.
We should realise we do shit in this comp and get ready for some early dissappointment as usual.
I think this is harder to win than the FA cup

You'd think they'd learn wouldn't you? Somehow it never sinks in. More deluded than Geordies.

WARNING: NEIL WARNOCK TYPE BATTLING SIDE+ CUP= DEFEAT FOR CITY EVERY FUCKING TIME, YEAR IN YEAR OUT, ALL MY FUCKING LIFE.

Lets just go out & win for once instead of chucking it away yet again.
