The One Handed Save By Given In The First Half

Postby King Kev » Sat Aug 22, 2009 6:05 pm

Was one of the best saves I have seen for quite some time!

I am a big fan of Joe Hart and hope he comes back to us and has a long career at the club but Shay is just a class apart from most other 'keepers in the league.

I sit right behind that goal. I thought it was in and in fact when it didnt go in initially thought it must of hit the outside of the post cos no way he could of got to it. We have had two clean sheets in two games and he has definatly earnt them with that save today and the one bottom left at blackburn. he is worth well over 10 points a season compared to your avaerage keeper imo

I've got to agree with you KK. That save was absolutely fantastic. I was amazed he kept it out.

Givens all round performance was very good. Small hiccup in the second half but otherwise, top notch. Anyone see him giving Richards some ear bending over something in the second half? He bosses the defence and commands respect. Easily one of Lesleys best buys.

The save was absolutely top draw...everyone around me...me included thought it was in and couldn't believe it when he got a hand to it...they showed it on the big screen afterwards and it has to be the save of the season already!

Best save from a City keeper since Schmeichel denied Owen at Anfield.

World class save if ever I saw one. Absolutley top drawer performance yet again and his leadership skills were more noticable than Dunne's today.

Amazing save. How he plucked that one out of the air and stopped it goin in the top corner iv no idea..Hes just the best keeper in the world for me.How many points has Shay saved for us since he signed?..Worth his weight in gold and hope he ends up a City legend we can talk about for years to come.

Amazing save. I was watching the game with the girlfriend and I was telling her about with Given in goal, I just atomatically assume everything is saved. Even that shot, great shot, but I just knew Given had it. He def. raises the bar for keepers after getting to see him in action week in week out.

I'm a long time admirer of Given, he's sheer class and incredibly consistent. I honestly don't think I've ever seen him have a bad game, as good as anyone in the world easily.

It really is a pity he wasted all that time at Newcastle, could have gone down as one of the best in the world!! He is ours now and what a keeper to have between the sticks.

I was sceptical when he was brought to city, but he've proved me wrong on so many occasions. Top quality goalie!

pretty much what I thought on reading that, Given has been consistently world class for years, Newcastle getting relegated after he left is no coincidence, he single handedly saved/won them many a point over the years.

I was jumping for joy when we signed him

While it was a well-placed, fairly powerful shot, I think he'd have been disappointed with himself had he let a shot in from that range. A good save yes but let's not go mad. There is a tendency towards hyperbole among commentators, pundits and fans these days.
Your right leg I like; I've got nothing against your right leg. The trouble is neither have you.
