Poor Garrido
I agree - Garrido is poor.
That's why we've signed Silvinho!

friend of mine (Barca supporter) sent me a text this afternoon as soon as he heard:
"U guys just signed our old left back sylvinho, he's a great player with experience and a good leader, we had to let him go for a more competitive alternative but he's awesome"
Barca supporters everywhere talking up this signing, might be the most encouraging thing about it.
now do we send mcgivern out on loan for a year? i'd like to see him get first team action this season to prepare him for next year.

Just wondering about the international clearance rule!!
doesn't a player from a non European union country have to play a percentage of the national teams games or be in the squad?
Read on the O/S that he has only represented Brazil 6 times, and wouldn't have thought that would make up a percentage of their international games big enough to get the clearance?
although he has played in Spain for a few years and would imagine they have the same rules as us, or has he got a dodgy passport?
Q. Which is your favourite goal? A. It has to be the second goal I scored during the last-ever Maine Road derby. I heard the fans singing a new song: "Who let the Goat out?" and I thought, "I'm having that one!" Eyal [Berkovic] placed a perfectly weighted pass into my stride. I held off two defenders and the ball bounced in front of me, allowing me to make a gentle half-volley over Barthez. It was my 100th goal for Man City and particularly satisfying to score against Man Utd.

Good stuff, Sylvinho is still a good player, he adds to the squad in my opinion.
It looks like hes coming in as a replacement and upgrade over Garrido. Good business.

A good squad filler, without bringing another ego into the club, who won't cry if he's not in the first team every week. But has enough quality to perform when called upon. (I hope).
More experience of playing at the very top certainly doesn't do any harm whatsoever.
There's only one Antoine!

I think Sylvinho is slightly better than Berti mate!!
Its going to develop some competition now at LB which should make Bridge alot better than hes already been this season!!
He is on a free, signed for one season, brazilian, probably won't see the pitch this season and a leftback ...and lastly with a name like Sylvinho is just begging to be our new cult hero.
I think the Berti similarities are overwhelming.

This one will play mate. He may even displace Bridge for a bit. Bridge tends to pick up knocks and at least we will have a replacement instead of trying Zabba, Micah, Ned, 'anyone rather than Spanish Gaz' to fill the spot like we did last season.

I think it's too early for him to play against Palace, but defo the third round.

I don't believe that I am reading this guy is a back up player.
This guy is a quality footballer who was good enough to play in the best team in Europe last season. If good enough for them, he is certainly good enough for us.
I KNOW THAT YOU BELIEVE THAT YOU UNDERSTOOD WHAT YOU THINK I WROTE, BUT I AM NOT SURE YOU REALISE THAT WHAT YOU READ IS NOT WHAT I MEANT

Scored a screamer v Scunthorpe in the Cup. I think.

He did. That game was Robinho's last goal and appearance for us.

This post caught my eye - and emphasises how far we have come.
Nowadays Barca fans would be saying ".... a quality footballer who was good enough to play in the best team in Europe last season. If good enough for them, he is certainly good enough for us."
With regard to a lot of our players

That's all I recall about him too.
Part of the list of left full backs that did little or nothing for us but scored absolute screamers. Jensen and Tarnat and Kolarov( ducks and runs for cover).
