Poor Dean Ashton

As someone living in Crewe for the past 8 years, I've followed his career more than most. Really thought he was going to be the next big thing for England and was gutted when we were linked to buying him but couldn't afford the fee.

Article says he has been forced to retire and could end up in a wheelchair if he's not careful and doesn't take the advice to retire.

PS: He's still the oldest looking 20 year old I ever saw on the pitch, closely followed by Lee Croft :-D

Went to South Cheshire College with Dean Ashton. He thought he was gods gift. My grandad used to play golf with his uncle who was his advisor.

Would have signed for City in 2006 if we had played £7 million. We wouldnt go above £6 mil. So we ended up with Samaras.

Real shame. Ashton was a clever player and a physical pressence.

yeah, i was making...a joke. i think prollee regardless of THAT match, Ashton still would have been more use to us half-crocked than the Grecian haircut. dont you think?

on topic...it is very sad news for him. Two careers cut short this weekend in their mid-20s, both Hammers. Plus a Spurs defeat. Where's Walmai? must be sobbing about now. Hopefully they don't lose Zola as i think he's capable of doing wonders for them if he can get a chance.

cheers

i didnt realise this until earlier today when they said on tv that it was a tackle by SWP whilst training with england that was the cause of his injury.
shame he didnt get over it as i think he would of been an england rugular

Real shame this I really thought that he would go on to be top quality striker in the Prem after he destroyed us in the FA cup a few years ago.

He deserves a break (scuse the pun) so I hope you're right, but in reality he's in the knackers yard

He's been crocked since birth, plus he must have a fake birth certificate. He looks about 40. Probably why he gets injured so quickly, bristle bones and all that. Sad news all the same, but it doesn't surprise me at all
