What is it with Distin leaving clubs just as they're being taken over by a new owner with wads to splash?

Everton have secured the signing of Sylvain Distin for an undisclosed fee, subject to the French central defender passing a medical.
Both the Toffees and Aston Villa had been in the race to sign Distin, but after Villa agreed a fee with Manchester City for fellow centre-back Richard Dunne earlier on Thursday, Everton took the box seat.
The 31-year-old continues the summer exodus of players from Portsmouth as confusion reigns over their financial situation.
Distin is set to complete his medical with Everton later on Thursday evening and is due to sign a three-year contract straight afterwards.
Everton chief executive Robert Elstone confirmed Distin was on the verge of moving to Goodison Park.
"After Sylvain made it clear his preferred destination was Goodison, the chairman [Bill Kenwright] moved quickly to finalise the deal - and Sylvain is now on his way to Merseyside to undergo a medical," Elstone told the club's official website.
Everton manager David Moyes has been searching for reinforcements at Goodison Park after centre-back Joleon Lescott completed a big money move to Eastlands.

He'll do a good job for them. Jagiellka and Distin is not the worst pairing in the world.

I would refuse if I were Distin, or ask for double the money...he'll be doing two jobs so it's only fair.
