And some people are saying playing high balls to box would be clever tactic for us against Stoke......MUAHAHAHAHA.

Anyway, here's another interesting stat. The players of our team have in average second most Premier League games in whole league.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

And to add to interesting stats, we are top of the fair play league. Granted having played a game less but so much for Hughes turning us into a dirty kicking blackburn team. I guess we now have no steel and bite to us!!!

Hard to concede fouls when you are being kicked so much the ref's arm gets tired from pointing the same way, thank god we change ends at the half or it would have fallen off.

Soccer (Its FUCKING FOOTBALL!!!) AM did something similar about hight in the Prem, was quite funny - we were one of the smallest and Blackburn/Pompy being one of the largest - we were also one of the most successfull too ...

We are a small club. Tevez, Ireland, SWP, Robinho etc. Even Shay is a notably short goalie.

Shay is 6'2", isn't Kasper like 5'10"?

Luckily he didn't stretch it up in the air carrying yellow cards etc, risking a strain injury.

I think its cos generally the going rate is about 6'4'' for keepers.

I don't think that we are. Look at the absolute squadron which Pompey had to deal with at corners: Adebayor, Lescott, Toure, Richards.
RSC and Kompany in the shed. Barry is a solidly built 6 footer.
We're more than capable of the physical/power game.
All we are saying is give Doug a pass.

Richards is sub 6 foot, Toure barely is. They're more about leaping than height and not especially tall for centre halves.

I could also add Weiss and de Jong. Both shorter than Bellamy (who's still short).

We've certainly added useful height to the team but all those short players are obviously not going to help our average.

Curiously, it seems that smaller squads are taller squads to a certain extent.

small and short aren't the same thing - Toure and Richards may be "only" 182-6cm tall (or whatever) but they are big physical presences, powerful, difficult to run against, jump with and mark. I don't think our squad needs to be, or will be, muscled out of any games nor will it struggle against the long ball game. Plus, we play most of our football on the transition and along the floor - for which are personnel are about perfect - there aren't many 6foot+ players capable of playing that game (who'd be interested in joining right now). I absolutely guarantee we're taller than Barca though.

At attacking set pieces you've got Adebayor man mountaining, Lescott piling across your face and Toure and Richards bombing/salmoning in. I think Blackburn and the goal at Pompey have been good indicators of how much change you can expect to get out of us at set pieces/in the air.
All we are saying is give Doug a pass.
