what kind of player is petrov?is he like barry who can play in left ,connect defence and attack.or is he like robinho(left attack position),who has got responsibility of attack and has got less responsibility in defence.
he is 6 1'good physical presence.can play to the likes of team which need physical strength.
sometime in the past i have read a article about him that he cannot retract back when he is attacking so making vulnerable for the oppositions counterattack.is it so?what do you think about him?

Petrov can be summed up as follows...
  • Will not track back
  • Will not put in a tackle for fear of injuring himself
  • Cannot and does not attempt to head the ball
  • Will shoot from distance with power but rarely troubles the keeper
  • Can whip in what look like good crosses on the face of it but they are actually no where near our forwards
  • Takes an average corner kick
  • Takes a decent free kick
  • He is a very good finisher in the box
  • Will point to the back of his shirt whenever he scores
  • Has only one trick of beating a full back which is kick it 20 yards ahead of himself and run like a nutter to get it before the full back. i.e. no skill, all about short high impact running speeds
  • After said high impact running, will do nothing for 5 minutes whilst he tries to get his breathe back

To sum up, a cracking player to have on the bench when you need to chase a game and get a goal.

Wow. Some people are very harsh on the man. One of the best players under Sven and still a great asset to the team. The best left sided player we have in a 442 formation.

Not seen enough of him since his injury to know whether he's got his full pace back or not. Without it he's nobody. On his day one of the most effective players in the PL who can trouble the very best teams, at other times a frustrating waste of space. Glad he's still around but it won't be for much longer.

Criticisms about crosses a bit unfair imo until we've seen him play a few games with an actual, penalty box striker. Even spiceboy would find it difficult to plant the ball on the assortment of kids, crocks, ponces, dwarves & failures we've had upfront for most of Petrov's City career.

Aint that the truth! We aint got anyone else on left wing who can cross like Petrov, though I'm keen to see what Sylvinho can do.
