Richest/poorest fans

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Richest/poorest fans

Postby mr_nool » Thu Sep 10, 2009 7:17 am

Saw an uniteresting, but mildly entertaining list of the richest/poorest premier league fans, based upon avarage yearly income. I have no idea how the list has been created or if it's statistically valid, but it's no surprise to see that that the top 4 consists solely of London teams. In fact, from the top seven, Liverpool is the only team that doesn't mainly have London based fans.

1) Chelsea, 31 435

2) Tottenham, 29 644

3) Arsenal, 28 884

4) Manchester United, 23 477

5) Liverpool, 22 968

6) Fulham, 22 940

7) West Ham, 22 368

8) Birmingham, 22 305

9) Aston Villa, 21 699

10) Everton, 21 642

11) Portsmouth, 21 224

12) Blackburn, 21 112

13) Sunderland, 21 006

14) Bolton, 20 979

15) Wolverhampton, 20 865

16) Hull, 20 828

17) Stoke, 20 690

18) Manchester City, 20 335

19) Wigan, 18 679

20) Burnley, 18 478

And obviously I will have to be the one buying pints the next time I'm in the Townley, you poor bastards!

I wonder if this is based on season ticket holders as we have lot of very young season tickets for youngsters which would explain it.

I read study some years back about City and united supporters living in Greater Manchester area and in that research there was no big difference in education level (City supporters slightly more educated) or income level (united supporters had slightly better average income). Only thing that would explain it all is the amount of supporters both rags and Liverpool draw from London area.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

No wonder I'm allways skint!

And from the looks of things my Taxes go a long way to keeping people in Wigan, Burnley and Stoke in thier Ciggies!

Have to say I'm shocked to see us behind Stoke and Hull though. How is that possible? And how can we be behind Bolton when unemployement in Bolton was at least year ago 24.9% whereas in Manchester borough it was "only" 16.8%? Then again, being unemplyed is bad enough so you wouldn't want extra depression of supporting Bolton Wanderers.

Most of them seem to come from Wales when I drive up the motorway!
