I interpret it more as you not understanding the difference between a contact and non-contact sport ... but hey ... you went to www.soccerhelp.com so you must be right.

Basketball and Field Hockey are non contact sports. Football is not.
Your Rule 8 says you cant kick someone to get the ball off them. It does not say contact is illegal, just certain types of contact.
Don't please rely on that site for "soccer" knowledge. I have never heard 70% of the terms it defines
Never criticise a man until you've walked a mile in his shoes.
That way when you do criticise him you'll be a mile away.
And you'll have his shoes.

Thank fuck you ain't a referee then, otherwise the game would be totally ruined with blokes like you who watch football with a rule book in hand and have no common sense whatsoever.

I cut you some slack before about your OP thinking that you hastily used the word thug but how anyone could think football is a non-contact sport beggars belief. It proves, well beyond a reasonable doubt, that you do not know what football is all about.

you know those rules don't classify it as a contact sport or not right?
you realise that the purpose of said rules is to make clear you can't kick someone to get the ball right?
you understand that physical contact is a large part of the game right?

or am I giving you too much credit?

Its like you don't want to talk on a level playing field and your 'support' for city involves slating the club and its players..

How do you get by in day to day dealings with the general public? It must be fascinating to watch conversations you have in restaraunts/banks etc...

You're downright weird..

I think if you can be bothered reading the Fifa rulebook you will see that contact without first touching the ball is not allowed.Of course I know that whilst playing a game physicality is required its the degree of it that bothers me.I do not like to see players being overly physical.Skill with the ball is of greater importance to me.

yes, I'm familiar with the rules ... and i didn't have to read fifa's rulebook to learn them.

I know exactly what you are talking about, and I addressed it earlier on in the thread. you like people doing fancy stepovers and gliding about, and if anyone gets in the way of that they are bad people ... they are thugs. you should not be able to steal the ball from anyone or stop them from doing anything they want to do. at no time should touching be allowed because it's thuggish and just icky!

what you don't understand is that there is equal skill in physicality. there is equal skill in being able to stop someone WITHOUT fouling ... as laid down by your precious soccerhelp.com. These skillful defenders are an integral part of the game.

Take a look at this coaching guide for the 6 and overs. It describes just one form of legal contact that you may need to watch out for.
Shouting "foul" when you see this is like shouting "offside" at a throw in (am I going too quickly).

I think if you can be bothered reading the MONG rulebook you will see that speaking after thinking at all is not allowed.Of course I know that whilst being a mong, window-licking is required - its the degree of it that bothers me.I do not like to see windows being overly dirty. Playing with my balls is of greater importance to me.

There we go, I gave you a bit of a hand with your post there Raggers.

I was somewhat ridiculed for the link I provided before so here's one to FIFA which clearly states that it is a foul to make contact with a player before making contact with the ball.
That offence is punishable by a free kick.
It also suggests to me that football is a non-contact sport.
I know its very little to do with the thread but a lot of the experts on here seem to want to spend their time trying to say that I am an idiot and shouldnt be allowed on here for having the temerity to disagree with their expert opinions.
It seems I do know what I was talking about(probably more than on this occassion) which is contrary to the experts who seem to have got it wrong

What about shoulder to shoulder? Perfectly acceptable and involves physical contact.

What a load of shite this thread is. I feel disappointed with myself that I'm contributing to it.

Not sure about the 'oxy' bit...

Back to the original question - no, we're not a team of 'thugs'. We have a good balance of skill and phsyical attributes.

You need to read those rules carefully because your interpretation leaves a lot to be desired - they lay out the KINDS of contact that are prohibited, not ALL contact.
