Typical City + massive banana skin avoidance

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Typical City + massive banana skin avoidance

Postby johnnyondioline » Wed Sep 23, 2009 11:22 pm

Ace result tonight...its all that matters

I`ve seen the last 16 list for the milk cup and i couldnt tell you how any of the other teams qualified. Giving Oppo fans the same credit, then by the time the next round arrives then no-one will remember how we got through. We won, it doesnt matter how.

I keep thinking about Garry Cook`s comments about getting over 'typical city'

Yes it was Fulhams reserves
Yes we conceded from a speculative 30 yarder
Yes we looked uninspired
Absolutely yes in years gone by (having equalised) we would have gone to penalties & lost

Yes sundays events seem very much typical city, losing in the last minute & Owen scoring......

But we won the follow up game

We have changed / are changing

Who on here would have been at all surprised if we had lost on pens tonight? Nobody .
Who had a sick feeling when they scored? (thinking about facing the world (& already overly high rags) tomorrow) - All of us

We won, It doesn`t matter how

And (:)) if typical city were still around, we would have lost

I`m really really starting to believe

I`ve not had this feeling before. It feels strange. But I might get to like it.

I thought it was lyrics - I was looking for the rhymes.
VIVA EL CITIES

"The adjudicatory chamber of the Ethics Committee ... has banned Mr Joseph S. Blatter ... for eight years and Mr Michel Platini ... for eight years from all football-related activities (administrative, sports or any other) on a national and international level. The bans come into force immediately." - 21/12/2015

See if it links up to Dark Side of the Moon in any significant way.

I know! We're the team who scores the late goals to win the games now! Like a real 'top 5' team!

I agree with this post though last season we wouldn't have come back from that goal and lost 1-0. Thats what excites me :)

Yes - so far this season:

Blackburn - we would have succumbed to pressure after we scored and drawn or lost
Palace – we would have done a Brighton
Wolves – we may have nicked it but there was quite a bit pressure and it could have been a draw
Portsmouth – we would have drawn at best the way the game went (last seasons lowlight for me)
Arsenal – after they equalised – the old CITY would have simply crumbled and it would have been 1 – 3 or worse
Scum – we would never have equalised once – let alone 3 times!! – it would have been 3 or 4 – 0
Fulham - after going behind totally against the run of play we would have felt cheated and fallen away to lose 0 - 1

This is definitely a new CITY and it is great to see – the attitude we are displaying has bred something else which I have not seen at CITY for a long long time – a little bit of luck and the ‘rub of the green’ – it is great to see.

Just wish we had not lost Ade – we would not have lost at the swamp with him I am sure and may have kept our 100% record – the next game is major for me – Hammers will not be easy and if we lose our way it could impact momentum / confidence – if we win convincingly – the opposite!!

Happy to be in the next round and that was all we could have achieved last night. Agreee with the sentiments expressed that this was another banana skin avoided. Roll on the Happy Hammers at least they will come and attack rather than park the bus. Well happy that we managed to break Fulham down and should give the boy's more confidence.
