Training Tuesday 29/9

Postby Douglas Higginbottom » Tue Sep 29, 2009 12:31 pm

I didn't expect much today and I wasn't disappointed. Just 4 involved plus 2 keepers with the first team missing plus the reserves playing tonight at COMS. ( Vidal , Garrido ,Weiss and Johnsonplaying tonight)I wasn't disappointed either with the work done and the intensity with Eddie Niedzvieki. The 2 Marks stayed inside rewatching last night's game and we did see many of last night's team but only doing some filming with Etihad.

The 4 out were Stevie , Vinnie, Micah and Silvinho and they did a variety of routines involving quick pass , move and cross with another in the centre finishing. Others where they were doing defensive work and then pressing out but then again turning to receive passes to go on and finish. Then lots of work on the edge of the box working on 2 on one situations ( Silvinho had gone in by this time) and then more work on finishing with EN feeding different types of ball. It really looked like Stevie was back more to his old chirpy self and over the virus. Some of his volleying and half volleys with both feet were sheer quality

Great to see Vinnie working hard and looking good. He will be pressing for a place soon for sure.

How did Johnson look? Is he ready to play yet? How much weight to the exact pound would you say he's put on? Does he still have shit hair and G.Ne*ille bum fluff? How red exactly were his cheeks?

Last year where Onuoha was playing the last 20 games or so, he seemed strong as an ox. But whenever he isn't having a run in the team he seems to get injured. Seems like he needs to play to keep the injuries away.

Cheers Doug, another great report. Good to hear that both Ireland and Vinnie are out there and putting a shift.

Does Kompany work with the defenders in training?

Any hints as to what his position will be?

I assume he will make his comeback from the subs bench, but as a defender or a midfielder? With De Jong, Barry, and Lescott and Toure playing so well, it's going to be difficult to force his way in

But there are always injuries, drops in form, and games like the League Cup game when you can play, and play so well that the boss just has to select you again

They would have come out just after 11 and finished close to 1.

Time will tell but you might be right that it will be circumstance that will decide what position his return will be. When he has trained in the past he has covered both midfield and defence.
