hmm, if both were in the current situation of having a bottomless pit of cash I think with Sven, we might just of pulled off the Kaka and Etoo deals . . . plus Pele, Maradona and maybe even Divy Spice . . . Leslie it is then because of that last potential signing alone

Well, one lad did say he picked Sven and gave his reason why, but yes mate, it's safe to say the 4 others are hiding, and I've an idea who they are of course. This same crowd tend not to try to give a valid reason in such voted because really their vote is based on hatred/agenda rather than football itself...

Which is quite sad.

I voted for Sven, but, I assume like the others that voted for him, they were put off contributing by the childishness and pettiness of some posters in the thread.

I'm not anti Hughes at all despite others here thinking they can talk for me. I think he's doing a great job this season. I couldn't give a shit who he played for or if he went to manage United tomorrow. Whilst he's at City he has my full support.

But do I think Sven could've done better than he did in his first season if he was given a second? Yes I do. Especially if he was given the sort of cash that was splashed around. Hughes did worse, least we forget. Do I think Sven could've won 5 games from 6 this season having spent a quarter of a billion pounds? I think he just might've. Would I want one of England's best post-war managers and a man who has won trophy after trophy throughout his career or a guy who has never really achieved anything as a manger? Please don't take this as a slight on Mark Hughes because it's not, far from it. But for me there is no comparison. Yet.

As I say I didn't voice my opinion because this debate has been done to death now and, until Hughes proves that over a season he can deliver, my personal opinion will not change. But please don't assume that everyone has an ulterior motive and call those people "sad" when you are the one bringing your "fuck off cunt" internet wars onto a (usually very good) forum of public debate.

Time to barricade myself in.

Fuck off you cunt ;)

Mate, I'm more intrigued to know the views of the minority in any given poll and sadly we rarely do... for whatever reason. We're big boys and we shouldn't feel scared to voice our opinion just because its not the norm... actually, what the fuck is anyone doing on a forum who doesn't want to voice their opinion?!

You gave your reason and thats fine. That's all that was asked. When I started this poll I had an idea that people would just select Sven out of dislike for hughes the man, rather than taking the football into account... and to a certain extent I may have been right. You obviously don't fall into this category so you shouldn't get offended.

Nor should you get offended at me throwing a "FOYC" at Slim. That was just banter and I regularly get the same back from.... that cunt.

Now climb down off the horse and let us drink and be merry, for there is feast to be had for one and all.

Hughes. By an absolute mile. For me there is no question that he has brought this club on light years in every area, and money aside has instilled a more professional, hard working and passionate ethic to the team and staff. IMO he's on the verge of becoming possibly our most successful ever manager. I love his class, his calm and collected attitude to the constant press attacks and his passion and desperation to win. He's got rid of the trouble makers and has built a team of winners. And low and behold, they're winning! Hughesy ma boy! I'm a big fan!

I voted for Sven simply because I think he is a better manager. Given a choice I would have preferred Mourinho over both Sven and Hughes because (again) I think he is a better manager than either of them. Comparing Hughes under ADUG, who have untold billions at their disposal and a refreshing ability to actually run things in a professional manner, to Sven under Frank, a potless billionairre and slightly to the left of insane, is as pointless as comparing Hughes to Pearce under Wardle when spending £6m was a major investment. Now we can spend £10m on a player just to squeeze the other players half time oranges and not give it a moments thought.

But we should give some thanks to Pearce for keeping us in the PL and allowing Frank the chance to buy us which then allowed Sven to produce a season that was equally as good as it was bad at times but still managed to finish 9th and was a tantalising glimpse of what could be done with proper investment and a good manager. And then came ADUG and nothing was the same anymore.

So far we have spent quarter of a billion quid and assembled a team and squad that is genuine top 4 contenders and I fully expect City to take a top 4 spot. My only surprise is that no one is seriously thinking about us actually winning the PL however if we continue as we are I suspect that may change. Actually I seem to be pretty much alone in thinking with no European football to distract us, a first class squad and the other top teams weakened to varying degrees that we have a genuine shot at winning the title.

As to Hughes though the true test of Hughes is not 6 games in. The true test is when it is 6 games to go and there is everything to play for.

So imagine 6 games to go and we have a shot at the PL title. Just close your eyes and imagine because in 6 months or so time I think it will become reality.

Now we've finally got a set of bollocks (I'm not a really old cunt, so I can only remember shit or typical city as we know it) I'd like us to keep on fucking. Sven was to old to keep us fucking constantly, it was the odd viagra charged performance followed by flaccid displays that left us embarrassed and with nowt to do but go and have a shameful memory wank.

Mr Kowalski,
You have obviously not been reading this site very closely regarding winning the League.

I certainly have posted that we could well do so...and there are others, not least Slim, who have also mentioned it.

Please keep up....:-)

Dear Mr 68

Sincere apologies for not keeping abreast of the current mood. Will look to temper my ill considered remarks in the future.

your sincerely

Mr Kowalski

PS It is nice to see others sharing my somewhat wild optimism though. I'm thinking some sort of secret signal like a masonic handshake so that we can recognise fellow optimists in the future. Perhaps the words 'Yes we can' in our sigs possibly? :)

I am not a wild optimist so I am not getting lumped with you lunatics.

What I said was for the first time in many years we have a chance to win the league. It may be a small chance, a very small chance. If we are dealing in percentages maybe it's 1%(for example) but it's one more percent than we have had in the last 25 years or so.

I will be buying much beer in the Townley if we do - I had a significant bet on CITY to win the PL back in May - 33/1

So you're betting on us having a 3% (ish) chance of winning the prem this season.
