We messed up

Spuds Drew
Rags Drew
Everton Drew

Liverpool Lost

Arse and Chelski won

We had a chance to really stake a claim to be REAL contenders tonight. I know a point is not bad away against a good side, but I dont think we played that well and we could have easily won if we were up for it. Barry was very much affected and Leslie should have changed him.

Aston Villa are a top 6 side

A point away from home is a good result

Totally agree, plus SWP just cant seem to hack it of late, I dont want him replaced but know it would be better for the club.

Maybe Mourinho could see somehing two years ago that we are just beginning to see?

the point was a good one on paper, but we are better than villa and considering the weekends results, I think we missed a chance to really stake a claim to be up there.

I agree we are a better side on paper I mean shite like Warnock and Heskey should be playing in the championship or for sides like Hull. However we are still a new side and at least we getting points away I think we got more points away this season already than the whole of last season ain't we :p. Somebody should really check that haha.

Or maybe not! What would that say to the lad everytime he came up against a team who wanted to boo him? Yes, it was a hard game for him and he took a lot of flack, but for me, he has made it through and still contributed to the game.

I'm glad Hughes kept him on, he'll know that next time we play 'em, he's got something to prove and not let Stevie take over his mantle. I like competition, it keeps people on their toes!

its not often i have felt dissapointed with a point away from home especially against team like villa but we never seemed to step up that gear that i know we can do

A little harsh methinks

Yes that was one of our poorer performances and I left the pub deeply unhappy - especially the last 10 mins where we seemed to want them to score - but on reflection you have to admit that Villa played brilliantly for the majority of the game

So we played a good prem team away who were on form and we bagged a point - I will take that

But at the same time, the point is the point. If they got 3 points last season, how mant points did they lose?

I woudn't say we messed up at all. We got a good point and progressed up the table. On another day we could have won but we were the better team despite not playing well and they're one of our main competitors.

I don't think WW is being harsh really but other than that I fully agree with you.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

We clearly were not at our best tonight, but on the other hand we would have lost that game last season so a point gained is not a bad result.

Our set piece marking is our biggest problem at late as we are giving up free headers at goal too often. Thankfully we gained a point but the game was there for the taking tonight so Wonderwall's point is a valid one - if we are to be a top 4 side, we need to win games like that one.
