Training Tuesday 6/10

Postby Douglas Higginbottom » Tue Oct 06, 2009 11:01 am

Went down to check on the few that would be out. 5 in the end being Stevie/Garrido/Silvinho/Vinnie and Johnno. Stevie apparently shouldnt strictly have been there considering he did 40 minutes last night but was very keen to train apparently. No surprise there.

Nothing strenuous done but plenty of passing , movement and good touch being worked on with a finish at the end. Driving rain a good part of the time too. The word on Toure is his heel which is the same as he has had already this year but they won't know the extent of it for a while. Nigel got a bad knock on his ankle I think but it is not believed to be a major problem and apart from that it was bruises all round from what was a very physical match.

Reflections seem to be it was a very demanding tough game and we have to be ok with a point. For one or 2 players especially hard as they are perhaps not 100% match ready. Yet again we have come back from being a goal down which augurs well and considering the stature of Villa and their aspirations we were the dominant side in possession.

Personally I thought we had a few key attacking players not playing that well last night and as that improves and the passing gets slicker and better we will turn some teams over away from home.

Cheers Doug, always great to read your reports.

Just a quickie about Vinnie; is he looking fit enough to be in contention yet?

Cheers!

Cheers again Doug. Good to see Johnson has been training for quite some time now without any set-backs. How did Vinny look?

Vinnie is looking fine. I have reported before that he has surpassed himself in the gym and is raring to go. As we have seen from others though there is no substitute to playing games and I would hope he would definitely get some game time against Scunthorpe if not before.

Cheers Doug, no news about Zabaleta? At one point I read he strained his hamstring and could be out a few weeks.

Nothing was mentioned this morning so I just assumed he was off to play for Argentina.

Just watched the match again and Zabba did look like he had tweaked a hamstring right at the end as Hughes said on the OS.
RSC is training ground fit already and just needs as much match practice as poss. Getting that poke in the eye last night really did affect him.

Cheers Doug, suppose with the upcoming internationals there won't be many players around this week.

Cheers Doug, great read as usual. But the question is will Sylvinho be the new Berti?!

Maybe he will. Berti was good in training but Silvinho is exceptional. If Bridge gets injured I would think they would throw Silv in automatically ( unless Nedum was 100% fit in which case Lescott might get moved!)

Flown to BA to see the Argie doctor, follwed by the next flight back. FIFA rules. Our doc has also gone to 'build bridges' and also make sure they dont cock it up I guess.
