No half price for boys

How quaint. Jumpers for goalpoasts and all that...

Apparently, back in ther day, Most (all?) clubs had boys areas to protect them from the bad influence of drunken/swearing adults.
It was the only place that had a cheaper entrance fee for them.
The boys corner at maine Road was the corner bit between the old Platt Lane and the Main Stand...Me Dad told me.

In the 60s some clubs still operated them...at Anfield it was the bit between their main stand and the kop.

I certainly remember paying on the gate for certain games and the price didn't leave a massive hole in my paper round money.

Kids price into the (uncovered) was about a tanner...6d...(two and half pence).
Think ther adult price was about a shilling...12d...(5p).

In 1968, Everton had a boys area and all other parts of the ground were full price. I remember thinking that they were robbing bastards...they charged us 4/-...20p.

I started off going to reserve matches & then 1st team matches 'round about that time but can't remember the cost. Most of it's a bit of a blur as I was a sprog. I can remember wandering around the Kippax & maybe you could get through into the scoreboard end at the time or was it just the corner? I thought it was great fun exploring all the dark corners & underworld beneath the Kippax & remember I was a bit disappointed that Colin Bell etc weren't playing for the reserves!

That stand was Maine Rd for me even though I wasn't always in it for games. It was never the same once they'd knocked it down.

They need to bring them back, only this time to protect adults from the drunken swearing kids..
