Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Direct quotes from the club in the MEN stating that
A. They fully intend to keep Robinho despite talk coming out of Barca
and
B. Hughes will NOT have unlimited funds in January, they have no plans to spend big in the window and will only buy if they need to strengthen a position and the right person is available

I really really like both points.
I LOVE RObbie and the fact that he plays for us AND I'm not sure there's single position on the pitch that needs urgent strenghtening. IF really top quality is available, and usually in january it isn't, then yeah but we already have numbers.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

I think the Press's perception of how we should act and the REAL way we conduct ourselves are poles apart
I really think the Sheikhs are a class act and far from the 'Nouveau Riche' the red tops would have the general public believe
They have a genuine business plan for this club and contrary to popular belief are not throwing money around just for the sake of it which surely implies that the club is in very good hands

"An Eastland source said: There has been talk about us having a meeting with Barca in early December; but it is nonsense"
"So is all the stuff about the chairman Khaldoon al Mubarak telling Mark Hughes he has unlimited funds"
"Khaldoon said a few weeks ago that we had crammed three years of spending into a couple of summer months and that remains the case"
"Obviously you never say never and if a player does become available in January who we feel will help our cause, we will take a look at it"

So not actually direct quotes from the club at all????
Do you work for The Sun by any chance?
For what it's worth, I actually think the "quotes" are likely to be grounded in reality by those, my pedigree chum, are not quotes from the club

I would say RB needs it especially for when Zabba is out now Micah can no longer cut it. Could be the difference between top 4 and Europa log spot.

I'm with Ant on this (and I got out of the right side of bed)
"An Eastland source" is nearly as good as "Sky Sports understands"
Just because MEN is the local paper doesn't mean they are factual.

I guess it doesn't matter whether or not the article is well-sourced. The piece says nothing at all. The article may well have been "City might..." and that's it.
'Robinho may or may not go' and we 'may spend money in January if the right player comes along'. What next? "It could be wet or dry tomorrow"?

Rather than endlessly speculating about transfer targets, why don't we take a little time to enjoy the players we've brought in? Especially as they are all still in the gelling stage. We've had a fantastic start to the season, and if that continues then there isn't any immediate need to strengthen. I'm amazed at how well we're playing as it is considering how disrupting it must be to have so many newcomers in the dressing room at once. If, in January we've slumped to 7th/8th and it's clear we need reinforcements then fair enough, but as it is we're in the running, and I'm very happy with the squad!

So, now we've got rumours to refute rumours, where will this ever end?
However, I would personally believe these quotes over that of the media's agenda driven drivvel!!!

I will bet any fan on this forum that there we will be a minimum of at least 2 quality signings in January, and quite possibly 3 depending on the response to feelers being put out.

It's a gratuitous homophobic comment.

From Wiki, so who knows:
Fruit as gay slang or slur is amongst the lexicon of the cant slang Polari used in the gay subculture in Britain, which has become more mainstream with transcontinental travel and online communication. In Polari, fruit means queen, which at the time and still today is a term for gay men.
