Worst away end ever

Here is the place to talk about all things city and football!

Worst away end ever

Postby Arjan Van Schotte » Fri Oct 16, 2009 10:45 pm

I was thinking everton. knees under the chin and approximately one snack bar staffed by a 14 year old that doesn't speak english. and then i thought of brighton, oxford, bradford, and all those other shit places i've stood and watched city. What's the worst away end ever? and spare a thought for these guys:

Fratton Park was pretty crap, although I've not been back since they stuck a roof on it.

Wasn't it Brighton where the away end is separated from the pitch by a running track - miles away!

Springfield Park, Fulham, Rotherham, Mansfield were all pretty grim, but the biscuit has to be a few weeks ago when I went watching Accy Stanley.

That is without doubt the worst away end / ground in the country.

Altrincham's away end isnt even covered, not to mention standing room only (which is a bit of a plus really if I admit it)

York City, 3 bogs for about 3000 blues when we went there, a river of piss flowing at the bottom of stand, and we got beat.

The Dell. Not the end stand about 10 rows deep, but the upstairs bit on the side next to it. Legroom made Goodison seem like Concord! Made of wood and any sort of fire everybody would've been burned to death.

Derby County's terracing was always shite, whether at the end or at the side. Nearly got crushed to death at Sheff U in the 70's. Always hated those little cages rather than the big stands. Scoreboard end at OT was wank.

Grass bank at Springfield Park turned to mud in the rain as the evening wore on (although it was a laugh)
Goodison Park, Eyes just about at pitch level.
Swamp, stood in front of the most knuckle dragging feeble low lifes in 'K' Stand.
I've stood on countless shit open ends.
But pray silence for the shittest away end ever....
Cuckoo Lane End at Oxford. Fences eighteen feet high, designed not to be seen through, capacity for precisely nine people whilst they sold tickets for 30,000. Shocking.
City and sniffing knickers.
Come on Blues.

What about the corner bit of the Anfield Rd, other side to where the away fans are now? Anyone try that in the 70's? Fucking awful.

I'd agree with a few of these but Blackpool in the corner terrace was shite! View was bollox. I think we were stuck in there coz the main end behind the goal was falling to bits.
