Okay, seeing as Kompany's back in contention now, do you think he or de Jong was the better signing?

For me it was initially Kompany. He had pretty much everything I thought the team needed. But since the start of this season, I've begun to appreciate de Jong's contribution more and more, and would now find it hard to choose between the two.

What is everyone else's opinion?

I'm pretty much the same as you. Vince was the man but now we've seen Nigel dominate a few matches it's a hard choice. Injuries aside I doubt both will play in the same midfield again, is it fair to drop Nigel now after his recent form?

It's decisions like these that make me glad I'm not the Manager!

Right now - de Jong. Will be interesting to see how Kompany gets on in the next few games (if selected), he was building up quite a head of steam last season.

Im still a fan of Nige's sliding two-footed tackles.

Well I believe Komps will be looking to get his chance in central defence now and considering injuries there and Lescott's less than convincing form, I'd say he should get his chance on sunday.
Sometimes we're good and sometimes we're bad but when we're good, at least we're much better than we used to be and when we are bad we're just as bad as we always used to be, so that's got to be good hasn't it?

Yeah - have been a big fan of Kompany since he signed last year (motm on his debut v West Ham if I'm right?) but looks like NDJ has the DM position nailed down now. Not much of a problem for Vince though as I agree with NQDP, I can see him playng central defence.

He is ideal cover for both positions and a top bloke.

De Jong can play at right back so put him there and drop Richards with Kompany in front of the back four.

I think he is certainly versatile enough to cover us in a number of positions, but I think he will be wanting more than just that.

So do I but he's just signed for another 5 years so he obviously feels he is in line for a regular slot. Fact is, we need both and I'm delighted we have them.

NDJ had a short spell at RB for Holland for a minute or two, but i don't think he's a RB. Look, if you can't play your position for your national team you probably shouldn't be playing that position for City. That's who we are these days.
