Team for Burnley at CoMS

Can't see a thread about this yet so thought I'd start one.

I'd like to see us pick a really attacking line up and go for the jugular from the start.

I don't see any need for out and out DMs given their away form, and as Shay said recently, it's better to win 5-4 than draw!!!

From Doug tells us about the players fitness/availability in training today, I'd start with:

-------------------GIVEN------------------------

ZABS ---- TOURE -----LESCOTT ---- BRIDGE

SWP ----- IRELAND ---- BARRY ---- PETROV

-------------TEVEZ -------ADE ----------------

And look to bring Weiss, Bellamy & Johnson on at some point if we need to mix things up a bit or to make sure we really spank them and try to improve our GD a bit.

Taylor, Richards, RSC & Sylvinho also on the bench.

................Given..............
Zab.....Kolo.....Lescott.....Bridge
...........NDJ.......Barry.............
Tevez..........Ireland........Bellers
.................Ade.................
I don't think the 442 seems to be working for us at the mo. I'd keep NDJ in the team as he offers that extra protection for the back 4 who are still a bit shaky if were honest. Ireland with something of a free role could really work and perhaps not limit his creativity as was seen earlier in the season when playing along side Barry in the defined midfield position of the 442

i think we need to go with an attacking 433. SWP has not been great lately and may need a bit of a break. i'd start with;

------------------------Given

Zab----------Toure---------Lescott--------Bridge

-----------------------De Jong
----------Ireland-----------------------Barry

----------Tevez-----------------------Bellemy
------------------------Ade.

Ireland and Barry to get forward early and support the front 3. i would also like tevez and bellemy to play alot closer together and not get stuck on th wings. De Jong and the full backs would have to be on top form as they will have to sustain alot of pressure.

We need to put them on the back foot from the start.

Yeh this works well, 4,2,3,1 can switch into the 4,3,3 easily enough. I dont think the 442 really suits us to be honest. Ade up front says it all really but with Tevez and Bellamy in the team either of them can easily switch into the second striker role. This also is ideal for SI whose ability to pick a great pass we all know about but also the ground which he covers is excellent in itself!

Same team as others suggesting but I prefer this set up . Superman will play better in a central role - right upfront in the thick of the action.

With burnley missing a few key players i hope hughes goes offensive and gives it a go with a 4-3-3, There is no need for 2 holding midfielders!!!

Shay

Zabaleta Kolo Lescott Bridge if fit enough otherwise if bridge aint fit it will be sylvinho

Ireland De Jong Barry

Tevez Ade Bellers

Team I would like to see for my £34 ticket price (bloody scandalous that as well, for fucking Burnley!)

Given

Zabaleta Kompany Toure Sylvinho

Weiss Ireland Johnson Petrov

Tevez Adebayor

subs: Taylor, Bridge, Richards, de Jong, Barry, SWP, Bellamy

(if Robinho is fit, then swap Tevez for Robinho and Richards on the bench for Tevez).

Unofrtunately though I feel like I will be cursing my luck of spending that much and have to witness the pathetic attempts at football by the players in bold on the side I expect the Clueless one to choose.

Given

RICHARDS Toure LESCOTT BRIDGE

WRIGHT-PHILLIPS DE JONG Barry Bellamy

Tevez Adebayor

subs: Taylor, Sylvinho, Kompany, Johnson, Ireland, Petrov, SANTA CRUZ

Full marks to the OP for not having De Jong in the side! Burnley are not a scrappy side and Barry should be perfectly capable of playing the defensive role on his own, especially with Ireland's propensity for tracking back. I'd start Bellamy rather than Tevez though. Apart from that 100%.
