Centre halves

Toure - Nothing more than a hoof merchant. Plays the long ball more than Dunne and is worse at it. Didn't want him in the first place and he has done fuck all the justify being our club captain.

Lescott - Was made look good at Everton by Jagielka. A joker mascarading himself as an international centre half. Overpriced, overrated and a donkey.

Onuoha and Kompany at centre half after the break please.

Your anaysis of Toure is absolutely wrong. He just needs a footballer to partner him. Ned is the answer.

I don't think Toure is a leader in any way shape or form. He does look for the long ball the majority of the time.

Dunne was a good defender, just shit on the ball. The similarities are there for all to see.

Toure is a lot better than Dunne. Dunne ain't good enough to lace his boots.

Toure plays the long ball because nobody ever comes deep for it. I've only seen De Jong do this, and to a lesser extent, Ireland. If nobody is moving and asking, who is he to play it to?

It's not just the first ball out of defence though, this is happening all over the pitch. Off the ball movement is often shocking this season.

Toure at his best is fantastic on the ball. He isn't getting time on the ball at present because he is doing the job of two players.

I agree, I'm happy with Toure. I'm not happy with Lescott though. I thought he was going to be a good buy. He needs to be dropped and get someone else in he's reminding me of Dunne by the second.

Was Kompany injured today btw? Can't believe he wasn't even in the squad.

It must've been a late change as the bbc had him on the bench, 15 minutes before kick off.

I've no qualms with Toure - for me he's impressed since moving here.

Lescott, though; two mistakes, two goals. What the fuck was he playing at with that header for their third goal? I've tried to sit on the fence since he signed and I've still no doubt he'll come good, but his decision making today (and previously) has been really fucking abysmal.

24 million pounds or no, form should dictate who plays. As soon as Ned or Kompany are fit they ought to be given the chance to establish themselves in the side.

Did you see the way Toure covered for Lescott late on in the second half? He was rock, the Burnley player didnt have a chance of getting past him and he prevented a good chance for Burnley to get a winner. You can't teach that sort of instinct.

Your analysis of Toure is way off the mark, I suggest you watch his game a little closer next time. Shouldn't have lost Fletcher for their 2nd goal imo, but he really shouldn't have been put in that position in the first place. Drop Lescott and Bridge for starters and that would go a long way to sorting out the defence. Credit to Owen Coyle today, he knew we are vulnerable down the left side and Burnley exploited it and then some. Bridge and Lescott got raped over and over again in the 1st half.

The problem is that Hughes is trying to justify spending £24m on a player who isn't even worth half that amount of money and has as much to offer a football team as chocolate coating does a fireguard.

Lescott today was awful, not only was his decision for their penalty shocking to say the least, I mean who the fuck was he waving at when the cross came in???....that was a clear penalty and put us in a dodgy position, Kolo Toure is a FOOTBALLER, who plays with the ball at his feet, not looking 60 yards upfield to lump it to the "big man"......what Toure needs is a partner with pace, strength and a equally adept footballing brain to compliment him.

Toure and NEDUM ONOUHA.

lescott is not a shit player as he proved at wolves and at everton.
yes he is out of form and needs dropping maybe the partnership doesnt suit him but toure i think is quality again as he was at arsenal.

To be fair to Toure, he's a quality central defender but when you don't have confidence in your partner's ability to make the right choices, you yourself are going to be frequently left in a no-man's land of indecision.
Its a pity Onuoha has had so many injury problems as on what we've seen so far from Lescott, Nedum is a much better bet.

But, as I've said elsewhere, we really need to sort out our full back postions.

Zabaleta had a decent game today, but then there was another of those 'heart in mouth' ill-timed lunges which undoes so much of whats good about him
(which, unfortunately, is not quite up to the standard of where we should be at)

Right now, we only have ONE Premier League quality defender in our lineup
And thats Toure

But his play is bound to be affected by the quality of support his colleagues provide
