Quite an interesting rundown in the Independent today of the best average attendances from last year across Europe

We are 24th but should be moving up the table to almost capacity after this season.

What I was amazed by were the amount of German clubs in there.....and the capacity of the stadia there. I know that the ticket pricing is very "fan-friendly" there but even so it's impressive

lot of german stadia like Frankfurt had been modernized for the world cup 2006. Other clubs like Gladbach have built new and bigger stadiums to stay competitive. High attendances are a result of cheap tickets (for the stands) and modern stadiums. But a lot of fans also ignore that the Bundesliga is only number four in europe and still love their local derbys more than international football...

aren't there also some standing stadia in Germany. I seem to remember they have seats that can be removed/relocated to provide larger capacity in some modern grounds?

yes, nearly all stadia have standing sections. Biggest at Dortmund (27.000). Schalke and Gladbach have 16.000 for example..

Yep, you can drink beer whilst you watch the game apparently, and you can watch Bayern Munich for about £9 i believe, no wonder their grounds are full.

bayerns ground is best ive seen glows in bayern colours-red when at home as does same for eintrach -blue and when germany at home white. but what beats the ground is pauliner on draft german ale at its finest

it is the cheapest ticket to stand behind the goal in the home end at Bayern matches. Don´t know what 1860 takes. They once owned half of the stadium, but had to sell their 50 percent to Bayern (what a disgrace)

It's a bit ironic, seeinga s Juventus is the most popular team in Italy, they actually don't have too many fans in their home town. Most of the people in Turin are Torino fans.

Increasing violence & racism (this has also led to it being harder for other fans to get tickets through increased security checks), average football, amphitheatre stadia with little or no atmosphere, TV saturation (you can watch every team game live for around 300 usd a year).

Plus there's the match fixing. The recentish scandal of a few seasons ago was just the tip of the iceberg. The Italian public have rightly lost interest in football as a contest as many believe that the result has already been decided. There are lots of factors but this, along with the above the law Ultras are the main two detractors in Italian football imo.

Season ticket at Dortmund costs 90 euro's. Was toying with the idea of getting one a few seasons ago, as it's only about 1,5 hours drive from my hometown & the Sudtribune is out of this world.
